Full Tour of Ambassador Cruise Line's New Ship Ambition

This video takes you through every major area of Ambassador Cruise Line's Ambition, a medium-sized cruise ship carrying up to 1,200 passengers. Originally built in 1999 but recently renovated with a £35 million investment, the ship has been completely refreshed to look modern throughout. The tour covers cabins ranging from inside rooms sleeping four to deluxe suites, all public decks from the sun deck down to the shopping gallery, dining venues, bars, entertainment spaces, and even a rare behind-the-scenes look at the ship's bridge.

Ambition departs from six UK ports—Dundee, Newcastle, Belfast, Liverpool, Bristol, London, and Falmouth—making it ideal for travellers who prefer not to fly. The ship caters primarily to guests aged 50 and over, though family-friendly sailings run during school holidays. Common Questions About Cruising on Ambition

What makes Ambition such good value compared to other cruise lines?

Ambition offers several money-saving advantages: drink prices are the cheapest of any major cruise line, spa access is completely free, ice cream is complimentary all day, and gym use and fitness classes cost nothing. The base fares themselves are substantially lower than comparable ships, starting from £25 per person per night.

How many cabins have balconies, and does that matter?

Only 125 of the 680 cabins have balconies. If you're happy with an inside or window cabin instead, you'll pay roughly half the price of a balcony room, making this an excellent way to save money while still enjoying a comfortable cruise experience.

What dining options are available?

Included in your cruise are breakfast and dinner in the Hollywood or Buckingham restaurants, with five-course dinners served nightly and seven-course gala dinners on formal nights. The Borough Market buffet is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. Additional specialty restaurants—Lupinos and Saffron—charge a small extra fee. The Alfresco Grill serves casual items like burgers and pizza in the afternoon at no charge.

Is the ship too old, given it was built in 1999?

Although Ambition was built in 1999, the recent £35 million renovation has completely modernized the vessel. Throughout the video tour, the ship looks fresh, contemporary, and well-maintained—you would not guess its age from appearance alone.

What entertainment and activities are included?

Entertainment is included in your fare and ranges from live theatre performances and cabaret in the Cavern nightclub to live music in multiple lounges, shuffleboard, table tennis, foosball, arts and crafts, organized card games, and free access to the gym and all fitness classes. Most evenings feature organized entertainment such as game shows and themed performances.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely useful if you're weighing budget cruise options or considering whether an older ship can deliver a modern experience. Cruise Mummy's systematic walk-through of every major area—from the bridge to the dining rooms to the spa—gives you a complete picture of what to expect, with specific details like drink prices and cabin counts that help you make an informed decision.

I particularly appreciated seeing the free spa facilities and learning that ice cream is complimentary all day; these are the kinds of small touches that add real value on a budget cruise. If you're looking for a no-frills, no-flying-required holiday with excellent pound-for-pound value, Ambition is genuinely worth considering.

today we're taking a tour of Ambassador Cruise Line's new ship ambition I'll show you all the public areas the different cabins and will even take a look behind the scenes cruises on ambition depart from all over the UK so you can board in Dundee Newcastle Belfast Liverpool Bristol London or

Falmouth these cruises are ideal for those who don't like to fly they're pretty cheap too and I've seen fares as low as 25 pounds per night but do you get what you pay for does Ambassador Cruise Line live up to its promise of providing the best value at sea let's find out ambition is a medium-sized

cruise ship designed to carry up to 1 200 guests it feels pretty spacious on board and although this ship was built in 1999 after a recent 55 million dollar renovation you'd never know that this was an older ship because everything looks fresh and modern there are 680 cabins on board but only

125 of these have balconies that means that if you're happy with a window or even an inside cabin you can get a great deal these are often around half the price of balcony rooms the ship does have some luxury suites too but we'll get to the accommodation in a little bit first let's head up to my favorite spot

on any ship the sun deck up on Deck 12 there's a walking Track that looks down over the Lido deck below there's a small Splash Pool up here as well as a giant chessboard the main outside deck however is one down on the Lido deck which is deck 11. here you'll find the pull bar a stage

with live music two swimming pools two jacuzzis and another bar at the end called the Consular bar the drinks on Ambassador Cruise Line are the cheapest of any Cruise Line I've seen and you can get a drink package too if you like there's an ice cream cart so you can get free ice creams all day long this is

something that most other Cruise Lines would make you pay extra for there are lots of lounges and these very comfy clamshell beds there's a covered smoking area here too if you're traveling with kids or teenagers then you'll probably find them in this spot with the table tennis table

football and dance all of which are free to use right at the front of this deck you have the wellness center it has a gym with all the weights and Equipment you could want I'd say that this is a very large gym for a ship of this size it's free of course and there are lots of classes to choose from too most

unusually for a cruise ship the spa is also free of charge you could pay for any treatments of course but you can use the sauna steam room these fancy showers and the relaxation areas for free [Music]

thank you [Music] unlike most cruise ship Spas the treatment prices are pretty reasonable you can get five treatments such as massages hair conditioning treatments or

facials for just 64 pounds now let's head to the after deck 11 and take a look at what foods available on ambition at the back of the ship is the borough Market which is the buffet here you can enjoy breakfast lunch afternoon tea and dinner you can also help yourself to coffee and Tetley tea throughout the day

there's a good choice of food from all around the world to suit all taste and dietary requirements I love the big windows and these lemon trees that go up to the ceiling you can sit inside or head outside where there are more places to sit with views over the Wake also on this deck is the Alfresco Grill where

you can help yourself to Burgers hot dogs pizza and chips at any time of the afternoon there's also lupinos which is one of the specialty restaurants on board for a small extra charge you can enjoy Mediterranean Cuisine and relaxed Alfresco dining for dinner the main dining rooms and the other specialty

dining experiences are all on the lower decks and I'll show you those but first let's head down to deck 10 for a sneaky peek inside the bridge it's rare to be able to see inside the bridge of a cruise ship but I was allowed inside so let's take a look around [Music]

thank you no decks 789 and 10 away you'll find the cabins and Suites and ambition and there are some interesting looking paintings on the walls like this one which caught my eye the accommodation ranges from inside cabins that sleep four like this one right up to Deluxe Suites like this

one I will also have a full guide to all of the cabins on ambition coming soon so please do subscribe to this channel if you'd like to see that there are some unusual cabins on the ship like this inside cabin which looks like it has a window to next door but it's actually just a mirror

down to deck 7 now and this is where you'll find the cavern if you like to party this is the place to be this big cocktail costs six pounds Which is less than most bars on land and it tastes amazing the cabin has plenty of seats a large dance floor and full entertainment like game shows and Cabaret down one

deck now and we have the Palladium Theater which spans decks five and six the Ambassador Theater Company has performances on most nights with fantastic music and I love the costumes there's plenty of seating and little tables so you can get a drink from the angel bar which is just outside and

bring it in with you from the angel bar you can see down into the atrium below ambition does also have an outside Promenade deck on Deck six it doesn't go all the way around but you can step outside and there's another smoking area here there's also a shuffleboard Court which is underneath the lifeboats so

it's sheltered from any wind or rain this ship has one of the most beautiful libraries that I've ever seen at Sea and it's well stocked with lots of books for you to either read here or take with you Elsewhere on the ship ambition doesn't have a casino but there is a card room where you can join in with organized

games there's a lot going on on Deck six because here we also Clifton Lounge Lounge where you can enjoy enjoy some more live music there's also this place called Grafton Street where you could do arts and crafts and other activities well most guests fall into the 50 plus category Ambassador cruise

line does offer some family-friendly cruises in the school holidays and I can see this area being very popular then now to the after deck six where we'll find saffron this is an Asian specialty restaurant and you can enjoy Indian Thai and Chinese food here then we come to the Hollywood restaurant which is one of

the two main dining rooms on ambition it has both indoor and outdoor seating the other main restaurant is this one the Buckingham restaurant which is one Deck Down whichever you choose you'll enjoy delicious food and excellent service at breakfast you can expect a full buffet with one special course served to the

table for lunch your starter soup and dessert is served buffet style while the main course is served to the table and in the evening you'll enjoy incredible five course dinners there's also a Gala dinner on formal night which has seven courses [Music]

the menu always has vegan and vegetarian options which are clearly marked too the highlight of the gala dinner is the baked Alaska parade Baked Alaska is a dessert made of ice cream wrapped in meringue and then baked in the oven as if that wasn't tricky enough to prepare without it melting the waiters then

parade the baked Alaska's around the room as well everyone waves napkins it's a weird tradition but it's a lot of fun a great place to head after dinner or before is the purple turtle wine bar here you can enjoy Fine Wines from all over the world there's also the pendennis bar with yet more live music

for you to enjoy and finally we'll end the ship's Tour on Deck 5 at the shopping gallery this is where you can buy clothes handbags perfumes Cosmetics duty-free snacks and any Essentials that you might need during your cruise I hope you enjoyed this tour of ambition I love this ship the cruises are amazing value

for money as well so if you want an affordable holiday departing from your local cruise port then this is certainly a ship to consider
