Is the helicopter flight really only 10 minutes?

Yes, the actual airtime is roughly 9–10 minutes. However, the video creator notes that it feels longer than it is because you see so much of the city and pass so many iconic landmarks in that short window. The brevity is part of what makes it accessible as a quick addition to a Vegas itinerary.

What to Expect on a Maverick Helicopters Night Flight Over Las Vegas

This helicopter tour review captures a night flight with Maverick Helicopters, one of Las Vegas's most popular aerial sightseeing operators. The video follows a complete experience from arrival through landing, showing exactly what you'll see and experience during roughly ten minutes airborne. The flight departs from Maverick's base and covers the glittering Las Vegas Strip at night, flying alongside (not directly over) the famous casinos and landmarks that define the city's skyline.

This experience suits travelers who want a unique perspective on Las Vegas without committing to a full-day excursion, and who don't mind the premium price for an unforgettable view. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, visiting for the first time, or simply want bragging rights for an aerial adventure, a night helicopter flight delivers drama and scale that ground-level photos simply cannot capture.

Important Details Before Booking Your Night Flight

  • Duration in the air: Approximately 9–10 minutes, though it feels longer due to the density of sights
  • Group size: Six passengers plus the pilot per helicopter; seating is assigned by algorithm, so you may sit on the side (best for photos), middle, or back—you have no choice
  • Photography restrictions: No personal photos allowed before takeoff, though the company employs a photographer onboard. Professional photos are available for purchase
  • Flight path: The helicopter flies adjacent to the Strip rather than directly over it, then heads north to Downtown Vegas before returning. This is by design for flight regulations
  • Visual conditions: The glass canopy creates significant glare from the bright Strip lights, which affects video and photo quality from inside the helicopter; focus and framing can be challenging
  • Cost: £97 per person (approximately $120–130 USD depending on exchange rates); exact pricing varies by date and season
  • Booking tip: Spots fill up quickly, especially for night flights, so book in advance if you have specific dates in mind

Frequently Asked Questions About the Maverick Las Vegas Night Flight

Is the helicopter flight really only 10 minutes?

Yes, the actual airtime is roughly 9–10 minutes. However, the video creator notes that it feels longer than it is because you see so much of the city and pass so many iconic landmarks in that short window. The brevity is part of what makes it accessible as a quick addition to a Vegas itinerary.

Will I get good photos from inside the helicopter?

The video shows that personal photography is challenging due to glare on the glass canopy and bright Strip lights that confuse the camera's focus. The helicopter also has a central structural post that appears in the frame. If professional photos are important to you, the company's onboard photographer is an option, though at an additional cost.

Can I choose where I sit in the helicopter?

No. Maverick assigns seating by algorithm to balance weight distribution and the passenger experience across all flights. You might end up on a side window (ideal for views) or in the middle or back, and there's no way to request a specific seat when booking.

What's the difference between the night flight and a daytime flight?

The video focuses only on the night experience, but the main appeal of a night flight is the dazzling illumination of the entire Strip and downtown area. The casinos, fountains, and architectural features are all lit up, creating a dramatic visual show. A daytime flight would show you the landscape and geography more clearly, but lacks the iconic Vegas glitter.

How close does the helicopter actually get to the buildings and towers?

The video demonstrates a notably close pass of the STRAT tower in particular. The creator initially felt it was uncomfortably close but notes that the helicopter is likely farther away than it appears from inside. Flight paths are regulated, and pilots follow strict corridors, but the aerial perspective definitely creates the illusion of proximity.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful because it doesn't oversell the experience or hide the practical limitations. The creator shows the reality of cabin glare, the tight seating, the photo restrictions, and the surprisingly brief duration in the air. Rather than treating these as deal-breakers, the video frames them as trade-offs worth making for the unmatched perspective on Las Vegas at night.

What stands out most is the honesty about what you'll actually see and the variety of landmarks covered in ten minutes. The route is clever—north to Fremont Street, then a return down the opposite side of the Strip—and the video's detailed landmark-by-landmark narration gives you a real sense of what the sightlines are like. If you're serious about experiencing Las Vegas from above, this is the real deal, and you should book it.

Hi everyone, welcome back to another video. As you can see, I'm outside Maverick helicopters. Going to take a little trip over the Las Vegas strip at nighttime. Now, with this one, I'm not sure uh where exactly I will be sitting in the helicopter. Apparently, it's done by algorithm. There are six people and

the pilot. So, I could be sitting in the middle of the back or either on the side. So [music] really I haven't got a choice. Hoping I get a good position. I'll see you up in the helicopter. [music] [music] All right. [music]

Go out the second helicopter. [music] [music] >> Right. Unfortunately, we were told when we got towards the helicopter that we weren't allowed [music] to take any photographs before we took off. He said

we could have some photographs when we landed, but they did have someone actually taking photographs. So, I think it's probably where they make a bit of extra money if you want to photograph with the helicopter. We're just waiting now uh given some safety instructions, uh how the seat belt goes on,

headphones, and the microphone and how to use it. And as you're about to see now, you will see one of the helicopters taxi in front of us now. It's just coming past right now. So, we're in a queue. There was about six or seven helicopters going off at once. So, we had to wait for so many to go. Now,

apologies with this. I will lose the focus quite a few times and you do get a lot of glare on the glass canopy because of the amount of lights on the Vegas strip. You can see he's just now starting to rev up and we lift slightly. [music] Now, the weird sensation with this was we rocked from side to side but

didn't actually feel like a takeoff. It's not the same feeling as being [music] on a plane. You just get that like you know you're moving but you don't feel like you're moving. And then as you get further along here and we picked up speed then we lifted up. Even the lift up did not

feel like being on [music] a plane. You just sort of glided upwards. Now that um hotel towards the left of the screen now that is the Manderlay Bay. As I said, apologies with this cuz the camera is trying to focus on the strip itself and the glare on the [music] canopy, the glass canopy of the

helicopter source that throws the camera out. Plus, you do have that central structure post which is right in the middle of the camera. As I say, there's the over to the left [music] there. That's the mandoline bay. You can see the glare now on the canopy, but unfortunately you can't get around

that. [music] Now towards the left there, that that is the pyramid of the Luxor Hotel. Right next door to the Luxor, you do have Excalibur. And then we're coming [music] up to New York, New York, which is the one with the you can see the Empire State Buildings. The green one direct below us

[music] is one of the MGM buildings, the MGM Grand. And you can see towards the right there the globe of the sphere which is the entertainment center. Uh the Wizard of Oz is on there at the present moment. You don't actually go up the strip. You don't fly up the strip. You fly up the street or the road next

to the strip and you come [music] down the opposite side of the road next to the strip. You can see the Bellagio there to the left and we're just coming up by the Paris. You can see Caesar's Palace to the left, the Flamingo. We're coming up to the wheel

and this hotel that we're now coming towards is the Venetian Hotel and we're heading up. We go up as far as the Strat. See the Venetian just there? Now, these two twin hotels together is the Win and the Encore.

Continuing up now, you can see the Strat tower ahead. Uh that's the Fountain Blue as well just in front. And as we go further up now, we will pass over the Sahara. And I I didn't realize how close we were going to come to that tower. Considering you are flying in a helicopter, he did

get very very close to the Strat tower. As you can see, now we're approaching the Strat. I mean, he he gets very very close. I thought this is a little bit too too close. We were probably further away than what you think.

Now, I thought we were going to turn around there, but no. We continue on up to downtown Vegas, which is uh Fremont area, the Fremont Street. You can see the blue hotel is a circa hotel and we fly. You can actually see the canopy as we'll come further up now. You can see the canopy of three monsters.

So as I said there's circle there and you are flying over the canopy virtually now towards the left and this is where we started to do the return back. You could actually see there we go. That was a fantastic view from up there. That is the Plaza Hotel. a bit below and

one just below. And as you see now, we're starting to make our way down, but we don't [music] actually come down the strip again. We are towards the right of the Strat Hotel coming down now again with this. As you can see,

unfortunately, the camera was trying to pick up the glare of the canopy and the bright lights outside, but you do get to see a lot of the hotels from when you're up there. I've got to say it was well worth it. Definitely well worth the trip.

You're coming down now. You come down towards Trump. As we get closer, it just seems like you're far away. Then within minutes, you are landing again. It's I think the whole time up there was probably 9 10 minutes, but it felt longer. You get to see quite a lot within that few minutes.

There's the Hilton Now, this is where you'll be able to see the Paris, the Venetian from the front. You'll be able to see the uh back of the Bellagio. There's the Trump Tower.

As we're coming down now, we'll now come down to the Venetian, which is right over on the left hand side there. So there's the main strip. You can see with all the lights going down that guitar there. As you can see, you can see the shape of a guitar. That is going to be the new Hard Rock Cafe

Hotel. Obviously, they've got to be on a flight path. They they obviously can't fly over the strip. [music] Directly [music] in front of me now you can see the coliseum. You can see Caesar's Palace. Across [music] the road from that is the palace.

You see the Eiffel [music] Tower. You see the Palace. There's Palace Hollywood. And we are now right at the back of the Palagio [music] the Cosmopolitan. And we're heading down now. [music] We're at the back of the New York New York. That one there, which is the one behind the Tower.

[music] And you can just see the turrets there, the blue turrets in the center of [music] the screen of Excalibur. And again, we're coming up to the pyramid of the final main [music] hotel on the strip. And we come down to now is mand. And we started [music] our descent back

in to the airport. [music] [music] Heat. [music]

[music] Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music]

>> [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. Heat.

[music]

So there you have the experience. experience there. It was only 10 minutes in the air. Um, I got to see quite a bit, by the way. Got to see the whole of the Vegas strip being in the front seat. Unfortunately, some of the mechanism, some of the framework of the helicopter was in the way, but I did the shots

[music] as much as I could. So, I'm not really 100% sure what the footage is going to look like. Anyhow, I hope you do enjoy this video. If you have done, give it a thumbs up, a like, a share, of course, hit that notification bell, and I'll catch you in that next video. Don't forget to subscribe. Thanks for

watching, and bye for now. [music] I don't know. [music]
