Summary of This P&O Iona Helicopter Ride Over Norway's Fjords

Mike Tew shares footage from a helicopter tour he took during a P&O Iona cruise in May 2024, departing from the port of Olden in Norway. The 20-minute flight captured stunning aerial views of the Norwegian fjords, which he describes as the highlight of his four-stop cruise itinerary. Tew filmed the entire experience in 4K using an Insta360 Ace Pro camera and edited the footage on LumaFusion for iPad Pro, condensing the original material into a more concise edit for viewers.

The video emphasizes how fortunate the weather conditions were on the day of the flight—conditions that made the aerial views particularly spectacular. Olden itself impressed Tew, but the fjord landscape leading to the port stood out as superior to the other three ports visited during the cruise. He frames this helicopter experience as a worthwhile investment for cruise passengers seeking a memorable activity that goes beyond standard shore excursions.

Why This Norway Fjords Flight Matters to Cruise Passengers

For travelers considering P&O cruises or exploring optional paid activities at cruise ports, this video provides honest insight into what a premium helicopter experience delivers. The Norwegian fjords are among Europe's most photographed and visited natural wonders, yet seeing them from above offers a perspective that land-based or ship-based viewing cannot match. Tew's experience demonstrates that despite the significant cost, such an excursion can genuinely justify its price when conditions align and the destination is genuinely spectacular. The video also shows modern cruise passengers what production quality and editing standards they might expect from adventure documentation, setting a reference point for evaluating similar cruise-related content online.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful for cruise passengers evaluating whether to spend £199 on a helicopter excursion. It shows exactly what you're paying for, provides honest pricing, and doesn't oversell the experience—Tew simply presents what the Norwegian fjords look like from above with favorable weather, which is often enough to help potential buyers make an informed decision.

What stands out most is the production quality itself: shooting in 4K on professional gear and editing it thoughtfully shows respect for the experience and the viewer's time. If you're debating whether to add a helicopter tour to your P&O cruise, this is the kind of authentic footage that genuinely helps, and I'd recommend watching it.

Description

This is an edited video of the helicopter ride I did as part of a P&O Norwegian Fjords cruise on Iona in May 2024. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and this ride was, by a long way, the highlight of the cruise. Olden itself was amazing and the Fjord we sailed up to get to it was spectacular, the best of the four stops on our itinerary by far. The trip took around 20 minutes. I filmed it all but have cut it down a bit to make it a bit more watchable. The cost, for anyone who is interested, was £199, that's just for one person, but worth every penny. I did this cruise on my lonesome.
I filmed it in 4K on an Insta 360 Ace Pro and edited it on LumaFusion for iPad Pro.
