Upgrading to a Giant Cat Tree: Assembly and First Reactions

The hosts of Hang set out to solve a furniture problem: their three cats—Nami, Pudding, and Beo—had outgrown their original cat tree. With only one cat tree accommodating two cats comfortably and a third cat never using it, they invested in a dramatically larger tree that stands nearly as tall as a person. The new tree arrives in a large box and requires assembly with the help of a partner, as the piece is so substantial and heavy that it cannot be built alone.

During the building process, each of the three cats shows interest in different ways. Pudding and Nami begin inspecting the tree while it's still being assembled, with Nami even testing out sections as they're completed. Beo, the most cautious of the group, takes longer to warm up but eventually claims a lower spot on the tree that suits his size and temperament. By the next morning, Pudding has already discovered the highest perch and chosen to sleep there instead of with the host, signaling that the investment has paid off.

Key Moments

Key Features and Building Considerations

  • The tree is exceptionally tall—nearly the full height of a room—with multiple platforms at different levels to accommodate cats of varying boldness and size.
  • Assembly requires two people and careful attention to instruction placement; one smaller trunk can be positioned incorrectly and block a step later, so placement planning matters.
  • The tree includes removable, washable cushions on several platforms and a large scratch pad on the back for claw maintenance.
  • The hosts add wireless, dimmable LED lights inside the tree controlled by remote, creating an attractive forest aesthetic while providing ambient lighting.
  • The base is stable when screwed in, and the tree can accommodate cats of different sizes simultaneously without territorial conflict.
  • Artificial vines and decorative branches can be added to enhance the "whimsical forest" effect without deterring cats from using the structure.

Why a Multi-Level Cat Tree Matters for Household Harmony

When multiple cats share a home, vertical territory becomes crucial for reducing tension and allowing each animal to claim a comfortable space. A cat tree that provides enough platforms ensures that each cat—whether shy, confident, or physically large—can find a suitable resting spot without competition. This video demonstrates that investment in proper cat furniture can transform how cats interact with their environment and with each other, turning a potential source of stress into a shared resource that benefits the entire household. The fact that Pudding, who rarely used the old tree, immediately adopts a high perch on the new one shows how the right design can unlock preferences that owners may not have realized their cats possessed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Large Cat Trees

How much space does a giant cat tree need in a typical home?

The video shows the hosts initially placing the tree in their first-choice location, only to realize it took up more floor space than expected and blocked their room flow. They repositioned it, finding a corner placement that worked better. Measure your room and consider doorways, foot traffic, and whether you're willing to rearrange furniture before purchasing an extra-large tree.

Can a large cat tree accommodate three cats at the same time without fighting?

Yes—the video shows all three cats using the tree simultaneously, with each choosing a different level based on their comfort level and size. The abundance of platforms means they're not competing for the same space. However, the hosts note that this works because the tree is brand-new and has no scent markings yet; over time, cats may show preferences for certain spots.

Is assembly difficult, and do I need professional help?

The video indicates that assembly is manageable but time-consuming and requires two people. The hosts spend considerable time screwing in branches and platforms, and they mention one placement mistake that could have been avoided with closer attention to the instructions. No professional installation is shown or mentioned as necessary.

What if my cat doesn't like heights or prefers lower platforms?

The video demonstrates that Beo, described as a big cat who doesn't climb high, uses only the lower platforms comfortably. The multi-level design ensures that cats with different comfort levels can all benefit from the tree—it's not all-or-nothing.

Can you decorate a cat tree with artificial plants and lights safely?

The hosts add artificial vines and wireless LED lights to transform the tree into a forest aesthetic. They note that their cats show no interest in eating the fake plants, though individual cats vary. Always supervise your cats' reaction to any new decorations and choose cat-safe materials.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful for anyone with multiple cats or a single cat that ignores their current tree. It shows real cats with real personalities—not a staged demo—and captures honest reactions over multiple days so you see actual adoption patterns, not just immediate curiosity. The hosts also share a practical building mistake and explain how to avoid it, which saves future buyers time and frustration.

What I loved most was seeing Pudding discover the highest platform and then skip sleeping with the host for the first time to sleep in the tree instead. That single detail proves the purchase worked. If you're considering a large cat tree and want to see how it performs with multiple cats in a real home, this is worth watching.

We've been on a search for a new cat tree and I can't believe I found this giant one. It's so big that it makes Chopper look small. Welcome back to the channel. This week we are making some changes in our home. Since we have three cats now, this tree isn't cutting it anymore. As you can see, this tree is

good for two cats. One can hang out in here and another one up here. Nami actually already broke that. There's really no space for pudding to actually relax. Pudding doesn't get on that cat tree at all. So, I feel like it's time to upgrade, right? With three cats, we wanted to find something that would be

good for all of them and also look nice in our home. I think I finally found it. It's tall, it can hold multiple cats, and it looks beautiful. So, even though it's expensive, I bought it. Hopefully, they like it. I think it's supposed to arrive today, so I'm very excited. We're going to build it later, but first, let

me catch you up on what's been going on. Woody has surprisingly adjusted much quicker than we thought. Look at how she's laying. >> Pepper, leave it. >> There's also major progress with Nami and Pudding. They can be near each other without any hissing. >> Be nice. Good girl, Nami.

She licked her tail. >> She did lick her tail. >> And Beo, of course, is the most chillest one. He's just minding his own business. You're hanging out. When'd you come in here? Are you a gamer? Be got his flower tree back. I promised that I'd get them a bigger cat tree. So, that's what we're

building today. I think the tree just arrived. Let's go build it. Are you ready? You ready for a cat tree? Something that you can actually use. Nami is curious as well. She's here. >> Watch out. Good thing the box. >> Oh, wow. >> Wa >> wa. First tree trunk. This thing is huge. Look at the inside of this. It's

gigantic. Thing is huge. >> It looks comfy, too. >> Choppy, what do you think? Will you fit in there, Choppy? No. Wow. Look at my hand. It's really big, so even a bigger cat can get up there. Chie, it's not a toy, bud. Nummy, are you going to inspect it? She's already interested. All right, we're going to

move all of this for now just to see how big that tree is. And then we can rearrange it later. Oh my gosh. Little Miss Nami is there. Pudding's there. Oh man. Oh, this is the first time I'm seeing you on this cat tree. >> Build the base. >> This thing is so ginormous that it makes

Chopper look small. Jeffy, excuse us. Whoa. >> Oh my. >> Let me show you for size reference. It's like half of my body plus more. >> Maybe the base is big, but like the trunk is smaller. I swear when we measure it, it didn't look as bad. >> We realized that the spot we wanted to put it in might be too small and block

off the space. We were expecting a little rearranging, but this is a lot of rearranging. I think this would be really beautiful over here. So, let's try to move it. >> Okay. >> So heavy. Wow, that looks a little bit better. I guess save some space. Nami's entertainment is watching us

change up this whole house. Pudding, are you excited? Beo does not care. He's just sleeping. Let's see what's next. The other trunk. Are you sure you measured it correctly, babe? >> Babe, you saw me measure it. >> I'm nervous. Let's see if Nami will like it. She fits perfectly. Wow. Nami

approved by Nami. Instructions. After we read the instructions, we realized that this needed to be built upside down first. >> No, he's got to line it up. >> As you can see, it is absolutely massive and definitely takes two people to build. There's also these cute little trunks. I wish we paid more attention to

where we put them because one of them is too tall and blocks a step later, which isn't necessary, but still. We realized it too late, so I'm giving you a heads up just in case you get this tree, which I'll also link in the description. Oh my gosh, Little Pudding is already checking

it out. For reference, we should have had this short one over on the left side. Oh my gosh, she's already checking it out. Is she going to go in? Oh, Chuby's checking it out, too. Oh my gosh, Peppa's coming to check it out, too. Oh, did we do the right thing? I'm so excited. They've never been this

interested in a cat tree before. You look so happy. Her first cat tree in this house. Chopper seems excited, too. While we were building, it seems that Nami has claimed the top part of the tree. I also love that you can take the cushion out to wash it. What do you think about the tree? You going to use a

tree? Pudding is also watching what's going down right now. Now, here's the moment of truth to see how tall it is in our home. It's almost like our Christmas tree. I don't know where we're going to put the Christmas tree. This is the Christmas tree. There's a little bit of space left. So,

that means Nami can fit up there. This is one of the most expensive purchase I've ever made for cats. But hopefully it will all be worth it and they will all love this. It's literally so big. Look. I don't think I'll ever see if Nami is up there. This tree literally makes Chopper look

so small. I mean, Chopper is small, but dang, look at these tiny trees. We screwed it in at the base, and it looks like the kitties can play with it. Chopper seemed very curious the whole time, and meanwhile, Bele kept putting company. What do you have, love? My husband came up with a genius idea and

said, "Why don't we also add some lights?" Wo! >> It's nice, right? >> Yeah, I like it. >> Imagine at night. >> Next step is the steps. So many branches. Got one branch up. This thing is so soft. I think Beo's going to love it. He loves soft things. >> Yeah. I like how there's there's a thing

here, the triangle here, cuz there's support. >> It looks like the branches are going to take a while. So, we'll be back. It took us so long to screw these steps in, but look at it. The back also has a huge scratch pad. Now, the final test. Let's see if the kitties love it. >> I think she's intimidated.

>> Oh, wow. >> Right here. >> Nami, you look so cute. Go try it, Foots. She might go for the tiny bottom one. Oh, are you going on the second one? Oh. >> Oh my god. This is cute. >> This is so adorable. I hope that they'll be comfy. >> We were surprised that Pudding climbed even higher.

>> Oh my gosh. Pudding can climb. Wow. Girls, be nice. >> Good girls. >> Good girls. There's a spot for everyone. It's like when you have bunk beds. This cat tree doesn't have any cat scent on it yet, so hopefully they can all share this. I know that with this one, it has a lot of Beo and Nami, so Pudding never

got to it. Now, this is a brand new beginning for them. Let's see how Beo feels about it. It usually takes him a while to warm up. Oh, >> Peppy, you're sitting. >> He's also such a big cat. >> Be such a big cat. Hopefully, he can hang out on one of these lower ones. >> Oh my gosh, he's going in.

>> Does he need a little bush? >> No. Oh, he fits. He fits. That's going to be his spot. Beo doesn't go too high. He likes being on the bottom ones. The highest he'd go is probably that one, I think. I love him so much. We got all three of them in there. Our whole family is here, all in one tree. Nami looks

like she's done with life, but she's enjoying this. A Holy cow. I just came home and Pudding is all the way up there. You found a new hangout spot. That's a real cat, Chubby. I was really happy to see that she was enjoying the cat tree. Later that night, she didn't even sleep with me, and she

usually does. Good morning. I see you up in the tree, Pudding. I missed you last night. You didn't sleep with me. Oh, you had a good sleep up here. Okay, good. Hi, Peppa. Good morning, baby. Morning, Choppy. Good morning. It was good to see that Bea was warming up to the tree as well. He likes the lower

spots, though. [Music] Miss Bernami, she's our confident queen in the world is her oyster. I love seeing her go around this tree. >> Whoa, I totally forgot there's a branch there, too. Pudding is like, is is she right beside me? Wow. >> I think Pudding likes the tree the most.

We've been really lucky that our cats aren't really interested in fake plants, so we're going to put this up and see how it works out. We thought it'd be really cool to turn this corner into a whimsical forest. It adds a homeier vibe and adds a little bit of light in the corner at night. We also pushed it away

from the wall so they're not that close. We have these wireless lights for inside of the tree and also dimmable and you can control it with the remote control. The problem is how do you take it out? >> It's magnet. >> Oh, it's magnet. That's awesome. Chappie, what a good boy. This is the

final look. I can't believe how well it turned out. It's such a major upgrade from our previous setup. But the best part of it all is that our cats actually enjoy it and there's enough space for all of them. If you want to see more of them, make sure to subscribe or follow them on Instagram at Beo and Chopper.

I'll see you in the next video. [Music]
