What to Expect from This Minivan Camper Gear Guide

Amanda from Adventuring With Amanda walks through her personally tested Amazon products designed for full-time living in a Dodge Grand Caravan minivan camper. The video was published during Amazon Prime Day 2026 (June 23rd) and focuses on gear she actually uses and relies on for van life, covering everything from power solutions to hygiene systems. This is a practical tour of a working mobile home, not a shopping haul—Amanda demonstrates how each item fits into real-world camper life and explains why she's kept certain products for years.

If you're considering minivan camping or full-time vehicle living on a budget, this guide cuts through generic "van life" content to show what holds up over seasons and what genuinely matters when space is limited. Amanda's six years of van life experience means her recommendations come with real durability data—she tells you exactly how long she's owned each item and whether it's still going strong.

Frequently Asked Questions About Minivan Camper Setup Gear

How does Amanda power her minivan camper?

She uses a Bluetti AC70 power station charged by a Renogy 200W foldable solar panel. She also carries a 12ft solar extension cord so she can position the panels in full sun even when the van is parked in shade. This setup supports her devices, fridge, heating blanket, and other electronics during extended boondocking.

What mattress is best for a minivan camper bed?

Amanda uses a Milliard tri-fold 4-inch memory foam mattress that is 25 inches wide (cot size). She's had the same one for six years and rotates it every six weeks to extend its life. Fitted cot sheets are available to match this specific dimension, making bedding setup straightforward.

How does she handle water and hygiene in a minivan?

She stores water in collapsible 1.3-gallon bags (sold in four-packs) that flatten for storage in a rooftop box. For washing, she uses a portable shower and a WolfWise pop-up tent for privacy. Rinse-free bath sponges allow spot cleaning on nights between showers, and a collapsible toilet sits inside a storage ottoman for discreet use.

Which items last the longest in van life conditions?

Amanda's durability winners include her heating blanket (multiple years), Setpower fridge (three years), storage ottoman (three years), tri-fold mattress (six years), bamboo lap table (five years), and pop-up shower tent (six years with one replacement). She rates products by whether they survive regular use, temperature swings, and dust without failing.

Do I need all of these products to start minivan camping?

No. Amanda presents products she uses, but van life setup depends on your climate, travel style, and budget. If you're stationary or near hookups, you might skip solar panels and large water bags. If you boondock in cold weather, heating solutions matter more. Start with essential categories (sleeping, power, water, hygiene) and add based on your actual needs.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful because it strips away van life fantasy and shows real wear, real timelines, and real durability data. Amanda doesn't just show products; she tells you how many years she's owned each one and whether it still works, which cuts through endless Amazon reviews of items used once.

What stands out most is her emphasis on space-saving design—the three-tier shelf she customized, the storage ottoman hiding the toilet, the collapsible bags that flatten for rooftop storage. These aren't glamorous, but they're honest solutions to minivan geometry. If you're seriously considering vehicle living on a tight footprint, this video deserves your time.

[music] >> Hey y'all, welcome back to adventuring with Amanda. Thank you so much for being here. If you are new to my channel, welcome. We are approaching Prime Day in June 2026. It starts on June 23rd. So, in this video, I am once again going through with you my favorite Amazon items that are still available that I

use in my minivan camper and that I highly recommend because you might want to add them to your cart. Perhaps there are some deals. Like and subscribe. Let's get into it. There are a few things that I'm looking at here. My Setpower fridge, I love my Setpower fridge. I've had this for 3

years. It is still going strong. It's green, it's cute, and you can flip the lid to open from either side. My Bluetooth speaker lantern, I love this because I can use it indoors or outdoors. It has three different regular light settings as well as colors and it can be a speaker. It is sitting on a narrow shelf. This

actually comes as a three-tiered shelf, but I took off the top tier so it's only two. I've also owned two of these three-tiered shelves and at one point, I had it as four. So, highly versatile. It comes on wheels, but I've never attached the wheels. We are still getting chilly nights even

though it's June in Colorado and I love my Westinghouse heating blanket. This has lasted me the longest out of all of my heating blankets. It has multiple settings on it and it's 12-V. I like that I can unplug it for easy storage and it is a sherpa fabric so even if you aren't running the heating component,

it's very warm and cozy. I highly recommend this Renogy foldable 200 W solar panel. I use it with all of my portable power stations, and it folds up nicely. It's very efficient. And I really like the leg stands on it. Furthermore, I have a solar extension cord, as you can see here, so that way I

can pull my solar panels out far into the sun when I have my van in the shade. And speaking of portable power stations, my favorite is my Bluetti AC70. It is a 1,000 W unit, 768 W hours. It's fast charging, easy to use. I love the Bluetooth app, and this is probably the

best power station I've ever had. It works very nicely with my Renogy solar panel. This storage ottoman actually houses my toilet, and it has been going strong for 3 years. You can put anything in it, but it's really nice to covertly hide my toilet, which is empty and clean, by the way. But, you

can store anything in this, and I sit on it. So, I have been sitting on this for 3 years, which shows you how sturdy and quality it truly is. To piggyback on sturdy and quality, my mattress is a Milliard tri-fold memory foam mattress. I have had this my entire van life career, which means I have had

it for 6 years. I do rotate it about every 6 weeks. Also still going strong, comfortable. I love it so much. As a van lifer, I cannot go without my Scrubzz rinse-free bath sponges. I've been using these for years. I cut them to wash my hands or my feet, but ultimately they're great for shaving my

legs and just spot cleaning. I do take showers every other day, but these are fantastic, especially for dirt like this where my feet and my legs get really dirty because it's a very dark I use these every evening. I make my coffee coffee every morning with these pour-over coffee bags. I was

introduced to these about 3 years ago and I still use them. They're inexpensive and they're fantastic. I am always cleaning, so I actually use a desk vacuum in my minivan because it can reach all of the cracks and crevices. Now, this exact model isn't available, but there is an upgraded model

available. There's a fly on it, sorry. And it is USB rechargeable. I have been using this vacuum for about 4 years. Well, I've replaced it once, but I would absolutely buy the upgraded model if this one were to break. I use my folding bamboo lap table in a variety of scenarios, but I often keep

the legs folded down. So, it's a nice hard surface that is flat and I use it to make my coffee, which also I want to show you my GasOne mini butane stove, perfect for small spaces. It's so funny, this has also lasted me 3 years. We're going on a theme here, but I've had this bamboo lap table for about

5. You can't buy guinea pigs on Amazon Prime, but you can get a lot of fun accessories. The WolfWise pop-up shower/toilet tent was my very first one 6 years ago. I've only had to replace it once. It is so reliable in wind and all sorts of different weather. Of course, I don't put my toilet in it

because I have it in my ottoman, but I use it for my shower. And also my portable shower I recommend, so I will include that in the comments. And gosh, let's not forget my hygiene caddy. Actually, this is a baby diaper caddy, but I keep all of my hygiene and personal items in it. I've been using

this since before I started van life, and it's great. I it's just it's lasted me. It even has these Velcro compartments that you can switch up. It's fantastic because I can keep it here with all of my stuff in it, or I can easily carry it in somewhere to a hotel or a house if I need to.

And how about this hanging USB light bulb? You can hang it, well, anywhere. It has a nice long cord that's currently tangled. Don't judge me. And then you just flip it on. Oh, it would be helpful if I turned that on. Flip it on, and it's great as a main light source. These collapsible water bags are

tremendous because I only use them when I know I'm going to be boon docking for a while and I need to fill them up. Otherwise, they collapse flat and I put them in my rooftop box. They come in a pack of four, and as you can see it is a 1.3 gallon bag. What's nice is that once I'm done with it, I hang it up upside

down so it completely dries out before I put it in my rooftop box, and I've never had a problem with mold or leaking. Also in my Amazon list, I have small things included like this headrest organizer that I love. The fitted cot sheet that fits on my bed. My My mattress is 25 in wide, which

means it's a cot size. So I even have that on my list and the toilet that's inside my ottoman. I keep a full list in the description of all of my videos of the Amazon items that I keep in my van that are still available. So, you can always go back and take a look at that list, but for

this video, I will also pin it in the comments, which I do from time to time. And don't forget, I also have a Starlink referral code in there if you are interested in signing up for Starlink, you can get a free month. I hope you enjoy Prime Day. Don't forget to add all of the goodies to your cart

so you can save some money and you won't want to forget to stock up on your summer essentials. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch. Remember to like and subscribe. I will see you all next time.
