Frequently Asked Questions About Icon of the Seas

What makes Icon of the Seas different from other cruise ships?

Icon of the Seas is the world's largest cruise ship by gross tonnage at 250,800 GT, debuting in 2024. It features eight distinct themed areas resembling small towns, including the Royal Promenade with its iconic moving Pearl sphere, Central Park with real plants, and unique entertainment venues like the AquaDome. The ship also boasts one of the largest water parks at sea with six slides and multiple adventure activities.

Is the cruise suitable for solo travelers?

Yes. The video documents a solo traveler's experience throughout the week, showing that the ship offers plenty of social dining options, group entertainment, and independent exploration opportunities. Interior cabins are available at reasonable prices, and the massive size means you can socialize or remain private depending on your preference.

How much does Wi-Fi cost, and is it worth it?

Starlink internet costs $40 per day. Whether it's worth it depends on your needs. If you want to stay connected for work or sharing photos, it's a straightforward option. For vacationers wanting to disconnect, skipping it is feasible since most daily activities don't require internet.

What activities require extra payment beyond the cruise fare?

Included activities are extensive (dining, shows, swimming, mini golf), but paid add-ons include specialty alcoholic drinks ($15–17 per cocktail), adventure courses like Crown's Edge (approximately $30), Wi-Fi, and any premium dining venues beyond the main dining room. Many attractions and shows are free.

How much free time do you have at each port?

The video shows full days at St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and CocoCay, suggesting 8+ hours per port. However, exact port times depend on the cruise schedule. The video confirms there is also a full sea day onboard before the first port call, ideal for learning the ship's layout.

Justin’s Take

This video is exceptionally helpful for anyone considering Icon of the Seas because it shows not just the headline attractions but the daily reality: how crowded restaurants get at peak times, what an interior cabin actually feels like, real pricing for add-ons, and how much time you'll spend discovering new areas. The helicopter-style aerial shots of the ship departing Miami and the detailed cabin and restaurant tours give you genuine confidence about what to expect before you book.

What I appreciated most was the honest breakdown of costs alongside the visual tour—seeing the ship's scale, the quality of furnishings, and the variety of onboard entertainment all in one narrative makes it easy to decide if this cruise is worth the investment. I'd recommend this video to anyone seriously considering booking Icon of the Seas.

This is the Caribbean island of St. Maarten The island is shared by France and the Netherlands The north is French and the south is Dutch A beautiful clear blue sea stretches out before us The water is so clear you can see the bottom

A Celebrity Cruises ship is docked next to us The harbor is filled with luxury yachts We'll cross the bridge to reach the port Today, I want to fully enjoy the island

Before getting off the ship, let's have breakfast I'm back at Pearl Cafe again today Let’s pour some coffee... Here is today's breakfast

The perfectly melted cheese looks delicious Outside the window is a Carnival cruise ship It's an older ship, but still very large It has a unique Italian-inspired design Let's head ashore...

Our destination is the capital, Philipsburg I'm getting very excited! We've completed the disembarkation process Seeing the ship from outside really shows how huge it is

Looking up, the slides are incredibly high The ship is around 365 meters long We walk between immpresive two massive ships This is what the ship looks like from directly behind The beautiful logo really stands out

It looks massive even next to the other ship Walking toward the harbor, we arrive at Front Street This is the island's main shopping area filled with duty-free stores The entire island is duty-free, making it great for shopping

Designer goods can be around 20–30% cheaper here The street is lined with Crocs, Pandora, and jewelry stores I have a snorkeling tour booked for 12:15 The tour costs around $120 per person Now, let's walk to the boat dock

Ahead is the mountainous area of Pelican Hill From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views While walking, I spotted a huge yacht around 100 meters long! It's a private yacht probably worth over $100 million

The owner is probably a billionaire or royalty Seeing so many luxury yachts together feels unreal We've arrived at the boat dock This is our tour boat Let's get on board

Once everyone is aboard, we depart right away We're heading to our first snorkeling spot The boat quickly picks up speed The coastline is lined with luxury resorts and villas

Most of the island is mountainous Many villas are built on the slopes with ocean views The white modern buildings really stand out We're currently on the Dutch side We'll head toward the west side of the island

We've arrived at our first snorkeling spot Before diving in, let's rehydrate Cold water Let's get ready for snorkeling Put on the fins...

I feel like a penguin And now, into the water! Beautiful tropical scenery surrounds us The water is cool and refreshing

Let's dive down... Beautiful tropical coral reefs stretch below us I've entered the world of Finding Nemo Let's dive again...

There's a sunken helicopter on the seafloor It was placed here to create a snorkeling spot Now it's time to return to the boat We're heading to the next spot

Rehydrate with cold water I got some Cassis Orange (alcoholic) As we continue, a large ship comes into view! Judging by its shape, it’s a fishing boat Judging by the flag, it's a Dutch ship.

It feels strange that this tropical island is Dutch territory We wave to the passing ships Something is swimming... It's a sea turtle!!

The boat stops here Ahead is the famous tourist spot Maho Beach It's famous for planes flying directly over the beach Planes are flying overhead one after another Then they land at the nearby airport

A huge passenger plane flies right over us! It's so low that you can clearly see the wheels As it passes, the sound is unbelievably loud

I've never experienced anything this intense before Despite being a small island, passenger planes arrive from all over the world We set sail again... Arrived at the next snorkeling spot

There are plenty of other tour boats around us Everyone starts jumping into the water! I'll jump in too! I feel great!

I'll enjoy a Cola in the ocean The tour is over, so we'll head back to the boat Lunch is a ham sandwich It's simple, with just ham and lettuce Champagne is also available

Champagne on the ocean feels so luxurious Let’s relax while we wait to arrive After a while, the ship comes into view! From the front, you can really feel its massive scale

It's incredibly wide compared to the ship next to it The ship next to us belongs to Celebrity Cruises It's another luxury cruise line owned by Royal Caribbean Group A little later, we arrive back at the port

And catches it with his hat! The performance continues... He catches it in his chest pocket! Then he cracks the egg with the tools The egg quickly turns into a flower shape!

Adding even more eggs... Mix everything thoroughly Then he creates a rhythm with the cooking tools It's a fun show that gets everyone involved He rolls up the egg...

And creates an omelet that looks alive! Adds a huge amount of rice Season it well with soy sauce or other sauces Vegetables like zucchini are added The egg is chopped into small pieces

Even the restrooms are colorful There's also a pool like a water obstacle course And that's the end of Thrill Waterpark The scale of this island is unlike anything I've ever seen! We head toward the boarding area between the massive ships

The departure time is approaching People on the next ship are watching us leave The ship's horn sounds as we set sail The massive ship slowly begins to move Time to say goodbye to this beautiful ocean We wave goodbye to the neighboring ship
