Frequently Asked Questions About Banff Helicopter Tours

How far in advance should I book?

Spots fill up quickly during peak season, so booking as soon as you confirm your travel dates is highly recommended. Using Get Your Guide allows you to secure your spot while retaining the flexibility to cancel up to 24 hours before if plans change.

What's the difference between the Lake Minnewanka and Sleeping Warrior tours?

The Lake Minnewanka tour (30 minutes) flies over the iconic glacial lake and surrounding mountains. The Sleeping Warrior tour ventures into Assiniboine Park, flying over Spray Lakes, Marvel Lake, and Magog Lake—offering a more comprehensive mountain experience, though at a higher price point.

Is the front seat worth trying to get?

If you're a photographer or want the most unobstructed views, yes—the video creator specifically got the front seat, which provided optimal sightlines. However, all seats offer bubble windows for good photo opportunities.

What should I expect regarding wind and physical sensation?

The video notes that wind conditions were quite strong on their tour day, which can affect both comfort and ability to film. Dress in layers and be prepared for the helicopter to move through air currents; the tour is generally smooth, but weather can vary.

Can I book directly with Alpine Helicopters or should I use Get Your Guide?

While booking directly is possible, Get Your Guide is recommended because it offers flexible cancellation terms (24 hours for full refund) and offline access to your booking details through their app—benefits most tour operators don't provide if you book independently.

Justin’s Take

This video delivers exactly what potential flyers need: honest pricing, a clear breakdown of tour options, and practical logistics like parking location and booking platform advice. Rather than over-dramatizing the experience, the creators show real footage, mention the wind conditions they faced, and let the aerial scenery speak for itself.

The bubble-window design and seating configuration details are particularly useful—too many tour promotions gloss over these specifics, yet they directly affect your photo quality and comfort. If you're torn between a helicopter tour and other Banff activities, this is absolutely worth watching and booking; the views genuinely justify the cost.

Hey guys! Welcome back to the channel  today we are doing a helicopter tour over Banff National National Park [Music] This has been on our buck list for a long time and we are stoked to be

doing it with Get Your Guide and Alpine  helicopters we're going to be flying over Lake Minnewanka today which is  going to be just amazing yeah they have a few different flight options they have  a 20 minute a 30 minute a 45 minute and then I think a private 60-minute tour  they obviously all have different prices and we are doing the 30 minute tour

[Music] If you are visiting the Canadian Rockies this summer we've created a 98  page travel guide that details all of our favorite places we have spent the  past 12 years exploring bam Jasper Yoho Kootenay and Kananaskis Country and this  guide includes all of the best lakes viewpoints day hikes backpacking trips

natural hot springs activities camping spots and more we have just updated it  and we can't wait to share it with you we will link it below and at the end of  this video We just got home from the tour and it was quite windy we weren't  really able to rec record anything right after cuz it was that actual windy but

the helicopter tour was amazing yeah it was so good uh yeah it was really  incredible this tour company has four different tours that you can book  ranging from a 20 minute $200 per person tour to a $1,500 hour private tour for  two people there's quite a few to choose from we would recommend the one we just

did cuz it was really good but then there's also the Sleeping Warrior which  goes into Assiniboine Park and we have done something kind of along there and it's  beautiful cuz you get to fly over spray lakes and then you get to see Marvel  Lake and Magog Lake which is just like a highlight reel helicopter tour yeah

super beautiful um Minnewanka Lake was gorgeous when we flew over it and this  tour is a little bit cheaper than the other one so just kind of depends what  you're going for there we've also yeah we've flown out of Assiniboine so we've seen  some of that area from the air already this tour leaves from Stony Nakota which

is just outside Kananaskis Country very convenient it's only 45 minutes from  Calgary or like 20 minutes from Canmore and then probably 45 minutes from Banff but  just like a really convenient location for flying out of one thing that I  really liked about this helicopter tour in particular is they actually have like

the bubble windows on the side so you can kind of like stick your camera out  and get the helicopter and the view when you're looking and you can like put your  head on a little farther and stuff it was really nice yeah they're really  spacious too and these helicopters have kind of two rows that face each other

which is kind of nice too and then um I was lucky enough to get the front seat  for this tour so yeah so up to six people can fly in a helicopter plus the  pilot but we only had four people which was pretty nice so we will link the tour  that we took below we'll put the link for Get Your Guide the reason that we

really like using Get Your Guide and we've started using them for pretty much  all of our tours one of the big ones is um you can cancel up to 24 hours before  for a full refund which is not usually possible with most of these tour  companies if you book directly with them and you can access everything on your

phone offline um through the app which is really nice as well while you're  traveling Thank you guys so much for watching! If you like this video and  found it useful be sure to like and subscribe to the channel make sure to  check out our Canadian Rockies Travel Guide we are so excited about all the

information in there and we've spent a long time putting it together so you  don't want to miss that we will see you next week see you in the next one!
