Overview of This Kauai Helicopter Tour Experience

Jake and Emily from Two Roaming Souls take their first-ever helicopter ride on a scenic tour of Kauai, one of Hawaii's most geographically dramatic islands. The tour covers roughly 60 minutes of airtime and visits five major landmarks: Jurassic Falls (the famous Jurassic Park filming location), Waimea Canyon's striking red formations, the Na Pali Coast cliffs, Mount Waialeale's Wall of Tears, and numerous waterfalls accessible only from the air. The video captures both the breathtaking aerial views in 4K and the honest reality of what the experience feels like—including the motion sickness that caught both travelers mid-tour.

This experience suits anyone who wants to see Kauai's interior and remote coastline without a multi-day hiking or boat expedition. Since only about 20 percent of the island is accessible by car, a helicopter tour is often the only practical way to witness the island's most stunning terrain. It's ideal for first-time helicopter flyers, photography enthusiasts, and travelers with limited time on the island who want maximum visual impact.

Key Moments

Highlights You'll See on This Kauai Flight

  • Jurassic Falls—the waterfall featured in the opening sequence of Jurassic Park, visible only from the air
  • Waimea Canyon—a dramatic rust-red canyon cutting through Kauai's interior, a stark contrast to the island's green zones
  • Na Pali Coast—towering sea cliffs along the northwest shore described in the video as "quite possibly the most stunning place in all of Hawaii"
  • Mount Waialeale and the Wall of Tears—one of Earth's wettest locations, where water flows continuously from the mountain's heart
  • Multiple remote waterfalls and lush valleys—dozens of cascades surrounded by nearly inaccessible terrain

What to Know Before Booking Your Kauai Helicopter Tour

  • Motion sickness is real: Both travelers experienced nausea, especially when looking through cameras or phones rather than straight ahead. Bring motion sickness bags and try to focus on the horizon.
  • Weather matters: Kauai is very rainy, which keeps it green but can obstruct views. The video's flight had unusually clear conditions. Tours may be rescheduled for safety or visibility.
  • Operator recommendation: The video features Island Helicopters, which the couple recommends as good value for Kauai tours.
  • Accessibility: The pilot flew directly into Mount Waialeale's interior, showing the tour's ability to reach remote areas inaccessible by other means.
  • Physical limitations: One passenger in the video became ill enough to need a bag. People prone to motion sickness, anxiety, or claustrophobia should consider their comfort level and discuss options with the operator beforehand.

Common Questions About Kauai Helicopter Tours

Is this your first time on a helicopter?

Yes—both Jake and Emily were flying in a helicopter for the first time, so the video shows a genuine first-timer's perspective. Their reactions and honest discussion of motion sickness reflect what new passengers might actually experience.

What makes the Na Pali Coast worth seeing from the air?

The video describes the Na Pali Coast as possibly the most stunning place in all of Hawaii. The sheer mountain cliffs and rugged coastline are so steep and remote that they're best appreciated from above; hiking or boating access is limited and time-consuming.

Can you really access Jurassic Falls only by helicopter?

Yes—the waterfall, famous as the opening location in Jurassic Park (1993), is one of many features on Kauai that can only really be reached by air. There are no hiking trails or roads to it.

How long does the tour last?

The video shows approximately 60 minutes of flight time, though the video itself is edited and total time at the operator's facility would be longer when accounting for check-in, safety briefing, and debrief.

What do you do if you feel sick during the flight?

The video mentions that motion sickness bags are provided. The travelers note that looking at camera screens makes nausea worse; focusing your eyes on the horizon helps. One passenger used a bag mid-flight, and both described lingering nausea even after landing—so come prepared and consider motion sickness prevention if you're prone to it.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely useful because it doesn't hide the downsides—motion sickness, passenger illness, and the trade-off between documenting and experiencing. Many tour videos gloss over the physical reality, but Jake and Emily show exactly what to expect, which helps viewers make an informed choice and prepare properly.

The footage itself is spectacular, and the honest post-flight debrief where they discuss their queasiness and still rave about the island's beauty is refreshing. If you've considered a helicopter tour but worried about airsickness or what it's actually like, this is essential viewing. I'd absolutely recommend booking with this level of transparency in mind.

welcome back we're Jake and Emily the two roaming Souls today we're sending off on an incredible helicopter tour over Kauai the most beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands [Music] we're doing something really exciting today we're both going on a helicopter for the first time ever in our lives

yeah it's gonna be crazy [Music] [Music]

foreign [Music] the first stop on the tour is Jurassic Falls the setting of The First Landing in Jurassic Park from the iconic 1993 film [Music]

see this waterfall and many others that can only really be accessed from the air next up we reach the Arid Waimea Canyon This Magnificent Red Canyon in kauai's interior is a surprising change from the Island's Lush Greenery its presence here is a reminder of kauai's volcanic Origins

after a few exhilarating dives through the many layers of the canyon we fly back out towards the ocean and just moments later we're diving swiftly down on the Nepali Coast this stretch of mountains along kauai's northwest coast is quite possibly the most stunning place in all of Hawaii

sadly this is also the moment where we both started to feel overwhelmingly nauseous looking through your camera or at your phone screen is a quick way to end up cutie in a bag but we hang in there foreign [Music]

Coast we fly towards our last destination Kauai is a very rainy Island which is what keeps it green and beautiful year round we were so lucky to fly on such a clear day with nearly unobstructive views of everything on Hawaii the pilot was even confident to flash right into the heart of Mount

Wailea one of the wettest places in the world [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause]

suddenly we're enveloped by mountains on all sides with nearly too many waterfalls to count and at the center we reach the wall of Tears where it's said that the water never stops flowing the raw power of nature we felt in this

moment was truly profound [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]

yeah it's hard to um keep your stomach when you're kind of like looking through a camera or looking at your phone and stuff so every once in a while it was just like all right I just gotta look straight ahead and like try to settle mine was sadly when we were like poly Coast so I was like dang it I

just want to like take this all in but I was like I just need to look forward yeah where you've been on Solid Ground now for like 15 minutes and I still feel like a little nauseous the girl in the front puked so I'm glad I did the puke on there yeah um but so amazing like this island yeah

and there's so much of it that's not accessible I think they said like only 20 percent of the islands accessible by car so all those like crazy canyons and waterfalls everywhere that that's really probably the only way you can see them so incredible I would highly recommend doing a helicopter tour just gotta do it

yeah so cool but you know where the the puke bags are thanks for coming along on another two roaming Souls Adventure subscribe to our channel to see where our travels take us next thanks for watching thank you foreign [Music]
