Helicopter Tour Overview at Zion National Park

This video documents a spring trip to helicopter touring at Zion National Park in Utah, filmed in mid-April. The creator and his father experience the park from the air, capturing the dramatic red cliffs and canyon formations that make Zion one of the country's most stunning natural attractions. The footage shows both the aerial perspective and the wider trip experience, including accommodation and ground-based exploration of the park.

This experience suits travelers who want to see Zion's scale and beauty without the physical demands of extensive hiking, as well as those seeking a memorable shared adventure with family. If you're drawn to dramatic desert landscapes, scenic flights, or a blend of outdoor comfort and adventure, this video illustrates what that combination looks like in practice.

Before You Book a Zion Helicopter Tour

  • Tours operate in spring and shoulder seasons; April weather is typically favorable for visibility and comfort
  • Book well in advance—popular tour slots fill quickly, especially during peak travel months
  • Expect to spend a full day or longer if combining the helicopter flight with ground exploration of the park
  • Bring layers, even in April; altitude and wind conditions during flight can feel cooler than ground temperature
  • Plan for early starts if aiming to catch sunrise or morning light on the rocks
  • Nearby accommodation options include glamping (elevated canvas tents with plumbing), which offers comfort without a traditional hotel feel

Common Questions About Zion Helicopter Tours

How long does a typical helicopter tour at Zion last?

The video doesn't specify exact flight duration, but it shows a full-day experience that includes both air time and ground touring. Most scenic helicopter flights in the region range from 30 minutes to over an hour; confirm the specific length when booking.

Is this tour suitable for first-time fliers?

The video shows a relaxed, enjoyable experience suitable for general audiences. If you have serious flight anxiety, discuss your concerns with the operator before booking; they can often provide reassurance and safety information specific to their aircraft and routes.

What should I wear for a helicopter tour?

The video documents an April trip, when layering is wise. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bring a light jacket, as wind and altitude during flight create cooler conditions than you'll experience on the ground.

Can I combine the helicopter tour with camping or other park activities?

Yes—the video shows the creators staying at a nearby glamping site with canvas tents and amenities, then combining the helicopter flight with vehicle-based park touring. This hybrid approach lets you experience Zion from multiple perspectives in one trip.

When is the best time to book a Zion helicopter tour?

Book as early as possible; popular time slots, especially during spring and fall, fill up quickly. If you're flexible with dates, calling or booking online months ahead increases your chances of securing preferred departure times and better weather windows.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful for travelers weighing whether to add an aerial tour to a Zion trip. It shows the actual landscape and pacing of a real experience rather than offering empty marketing, and the blend of helicopter footage with ground-level and accommodation views gives you a complete sense of what the trip entails.

The best part is watching how accessible the experience feels—not extreme or dangerous, but clearly spectacular and worth the investment. If you're considering a Zion expedition that combines comfort with adventure, this is exactly the kind of evidence you need to book with confidence.

Description

Hello everyone, I went on a trip to Zion National Park in Utah with my dad. We stayed at a beautiful campsite just outside the park that consisted of beautiful canvas tents. This was called "glamping" (glamorous camping) because the tents were elevated and had plumbing. The helicopter tour was spectacular and we also had a great time driving through the park. Thanks for watching! This video takes place from April 14th to the 15th of 2021.
