Overview of San Diego County Helicopter Tours with Waverider

Waverider Helicopter Tours offers scenic helicopter rides across San Diego County, a relatively young operation that launched in October with plans to expand. The company is run by a Coast Guard veteran who learned to fly both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters through the Post-9/11 GI Bill, bringing professional experience and a passion for aviation to every flight. The video features a customer testimonial celebrating a birthday ride as an unforgettable memory, plus insights into the founder's aviation background and vision for growth.

This experience suits travelers who want a fresh perspective on Southern California's landscape from the air, whether for a special occasion or pure adventure. If you've flown in planes before, the video makes clear that a helicopter ride offers something distinctly different—a more intimate, maneuverable way to see the region. Fair warning: weather matters; one passenger notes initial clouds that later cleared, turning the day into a "super awesome" outing, so flexibility helps.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful because it balances the emotional appeal of a special-occasion flight with practical details: the founder's credible background, current service offerings, future expansion plans, and honest talk about weather. You get a real sense of what makes Waverider different—not a slick marketing piece, but an authentic look at a growing operation run by someone who loves flying.

I loved hearing the birthday passenger's unscripted enthusiasm and the founder's candor about starting with one helicopter and reinvesting in growth. It's clear this isn't a fly-by-night outfit, and the blend of customer joy with operational transparency makes this a tour worth booking soon while spots remain available.

it was an amazing adventure definitely won one that we will remember forever especially on my dad's birthday we started back in October and we have one helicopter right now but we plan on growing once the business grows we right now we offer tours and aerial photography and soon we'll be offering

charters and hopefully soon we can charter people to Catalina Temecula LA anywhere they want to go in Southern California even Vegas [Music]

[Music] I served in the Coast Guard and when I got the Coast Guard he is the post 9/11 GI Bill and I learned how to fly airplanes first in Ocean City Maryland and after that I was a flight instructor in airplanes and while his flight is trucked in I decided to go over and check out the helicopters and take a

helicopter lesson and I really fell in love with flying helicopters so I switched over to helicopters and I love flying it and without serving the Coast Guard there's no way I'd be fly right now so I do you think the Coast Guard for allowing me to we see the GI Bill learn how to fly

[Music] in the Coast Guard I was stationed in North Carolina the first station was on a small boat stationed in the Outer Banks my second station was an Elizabeth City and an Air Station I got to work

around the c-130s and Jayhawk helicopters and then I got orders to the Coast Guard Cutter diligence based out of Loehmann's in North Carolina and we patrolled the waters between Miami and Cuba [Music]

really interesting I've never been in a helicopter before so being able to go out and experience the other side of aviation was really cool you know I've been in the planes and stuff you know numerous times but about to experience a helicopter ride was very very different and I liked it a lot it was interesting

a really good time and it finally cleared up it was cloudy earlier and I was really upset but it was a super awesome day
