A Helicopter Tour of Southern New Zealand's Alpine Peaks

Over the Top Helicopters offers scenic flight experiences across Queenstown and the fiords of southern New Zealand, operating modern Eurocopter AC130 aircraft fitted with 65 square feet of panoramic windows. The video follows host Jeremy Redmore on a morning excursion that climbs to 5,000 feet above sea level, heading toward Ceil Peak—a dramatic mountain summit in the region. What sets this operator apart is its willingness to customize itineraries entirely around your interests, whether that means alpine sightseeing, hiking, gourmet picnics, extreme golf, wine tours, fly fishing, or even mountaintop events.

This experience suits adventurous travelers who want to see New Zealand's landscape from the air without a rigid tour script, and those seeking an unconventional activity to break up a Queenstown visit. The video demonstrates the company's 26-year track record in the area and their philosophy of making almost any aerial vision possible—all while maintaining an intimate, personalized feel rather than a cattle-car group tour.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely useful because it shows exactly what a helicopter tour review should demonstrate: real aircraft specs, actual altitude and terrain, and honest examples of what the company can deliver beyond standard sightseeing. You see the panoramic windows in action, meet an experienced pilot who explains the helicopter's capabilities, and watch an unconventional activity (mountaintop golf) happen in real time.

What impressed me most was the pilot's matter-of-fact willingness to make unusual requests happen—the story of flying a rock band to a peak for a concert illustrates that this isn't a one-size-fits-all operation. If you want a best helicopter tour that bends to your vision rather than forcing you into a standard route, this company deserves serious consideration, and this video makes a strong case for booking sooner rather than later.

So, I've been to Queenstown a few times, but it's always been a case of being asleep during the day and awake at night. So, today I'm making up for this lack of daytime orientation by going big. Euroopter big. Check out these bad boys. We are at over the top helicopters. And that one at the front

there is a Euroopter with, I'm told, 65 square ft of perfectly panoramic windows. [Music] Beautiful morning. Can't complain. Fantastic. You're Brad, I presume? Brad. Yeah. Jeremy. Jeremy. Nice to meet you. And we're going to go up on this beast. Yeah, that's right. This is the

Euroopter AC130 B4. So, uh, going to take you for a spin and show you what we're all about. Awesome. Well, let's stop talking about it and let's get in there. [Music] Okay. All right, let's get into it, guys.

I love this is seriously just like a magic carpet. This feeling is magic carpet. This feeling here has got to have some kind of addictive quality to it, right? Oh, absolutely. Very addictive. Over the top. It's been operating here for 26 years now in the local area. So, you got it all covered. All covered.

We know all the best spots. And uh where we're heading today is the big mountain up on the lefthand side which is called Ceil Peak. All the way up there. All the way up there. So just about a mile high. We're about 5,000 ft above sea level. You guys cater to all kinds of requests,

right? We do. We um we have a motto that your itinerary is only limited by your imagination and we we really can just about make anything happen. So if I wanted to do a gig on the top of Tessel's Peak, you know, you could fly me in there, fly in the whole crowd. Really? You could have like an intimate

mountain top performance. Well, we we've we've done this before. You've done it. Do you want me to show you where we do it? Oh, this is crazy, man. This is so ridiculously good. You had a rock concert up here. We did. We did. Got a um local band of Lynch Mob and uh we flew all the gear up, all the

amplifiers, generators, and supplied the crowd and uh had a fantastic afternoon concert up here. That is amazing. Oh man. Okay, this is nuts. Oh man, I've never seen anything like this to be honest. This is this is in wonderland in my brain. Yeah, it's a pretty uh special part of the world

here. To be up here with these surroundings is just is really really special. I I can't really I'm a bit lost for words to be honest. So Jeremy, we're using over the top eco balls. They're uh biodegradable. They're made out of dog food actually and they'll uh degrade in about 2 weeks in

the environment after you hit it away. Can you eat them? I wouldn't recommend it. Are you just sort of feeding the wild dogs that are down here? Are you the hordes of wild dogs I see down there waiting? feeding the hordes. They're like seagulls around here. Actually, they're not. So, we got your big club,

plenty of surface area here. So, uh can't go wrong. Should be hard to miss, but I'm not going to make any [Music] promises. That was really good.

Straight as an arrow. Get used to this. Maybe I've only got a golf on the top of a mountain. [Music]
