What to Expect from This Las Vegas Helicopter Tour

This video captures a complete 14-minute scenic flight over Las Vegas aboard a Eurocopter EC130, operated by Maverick Helicopters from the Signature private terminal at McCarran International Airport. The experience begins with hotel pickup via Maverick's limo bus, a safety briefing with the pilot, and front-seat boarding before takeoff. You'll see the tour unfolds as a low-level, intimate aerial journey rather than a distant sightseeing pass—the helicopter descends close to landmarks, giving passengers genuine perspective on the scale and detail of the city below.

This tour suits travelers seeking a fast-paced, action-oriented aerial experience of Las Vegas. It's ideal if you want to see the famous Strip, downtown landmarks, and airport infrastructure in a single short flight without committing hours to your itinerary. The video demonstrates that this isn't a leisurely cruise; it's a sportier, more dynamic flight with notable descents and directional changes designed to showcase the city from multiple angles.

Key Sights and Moments on the Flight Route

  • Takeoff over the Sands corporate jet fleet and the JANET Boeing 737s that transport workers to Area 51
  • Low-level pass down the Las Vegas Strip with close views of hotel and casino architecture
  • Dramatic descent near the Stratosphere tower at low altitude, then a U-turn over Fremont Street
  • Second pass by the Stratosphere with views of the ACM Party For A Cause festival happening on the ground
  • Approach to the Luxor hotel and final descent over private jet ramps before landing

What You Need to Know Before Booking

  • Flight duration is approximately 14 minutes of actual air time, making this a quick experience ideal for time-constrained visitors
  • The aircraft is a Eurocopter EC130T2, a modern helicopter with good visibility and smooth handling characteristics
  • Pickup is from your Las Vegas hotel via Maverick's dedicated limo bus, with departure and return to the Signature private terminal
  • You'll receive a safety briefing from the pilot before boarding and will sit in the front seat, which offers the best views
  • The flight includes relatively aggressive banking and descents to showcase landmarks closely; this is not a gentle, high-altitude tour
  • Departures are scheduled mid-day (the video shows a 12:26 p.m. departure), though availability varies by season and booking demand

Frequently Asked Questions About Las Vegas Helicopter Tours

How much time does this experience take from start to finish?

The actual flight is 14 minutes, but the full experience—including hotel transfer, check-in, safety briefing, and return transport—typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours total.

Will I get a good view from the helicopter?

Yes. The video shows that the EC130 is flown close to major landmarks like the Stratosphere and the Strip, and front-seat passengers enjoy excellent visibility. The pilot makes multiple passes and descents specifically to give you varied perspectives.

Is this tour suitable for people afraid of heights?

This tour involves considerable altitude and close proximity to tall structures like the Stratosphere. If you're very uncomfortable with heights or flying, a longer, higher-altitude tour might feel less intense, but this one is designed for confident travelers.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothing suited to the season and bring sunglasses and a camera or phone to capture the views. Avoid loose items that could fall into the helicopter's mechanical areas; secure hats and accessories before boarding.

How far in advance should I book?

Tours with Maverick Helicopters, especially mid-day departures and front-seat positions, fill up quickly during peak travel seasons. Booking at least a week in advance is recommended to secure your preferred time slot.

Description

A full length, full flight video with Maverick Helicopters operating a helicopter tour of Las Vegas.

The video begins with our transfer from our hotel, The Venetian, onboard Maverick's limo bus. We arrive at the Signature private terminal at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, ahead of our flight on the sporty EC130 for our helicopter tour.

Before long we walk out to our helicopter receiving our safety briefing from the pilot, before boarding the helicopter in the front seat and firing up the engines. We make a sporty takeoff over the Sands corporate jet fleet, and over the infamous JANET Boeing 737s used to transport workers to nearby Area 51.

We then head up the famous Las Vegas strip getting a phenomenal view of the hotels and casinos, buzzing the Stratosphere tower at low level before making a U-turn over Fremont Street.

We then buzz the Strat again getting a great view of the ACM Party For A Cause festival that is getting underway beneath us. From there it's down the strip again towards the famous Luxor hotel, again swooping down over the private jet ramps and touching down smoothly at the Signature terminal.

We disembark the helicopter back into the terminal to get our bus back to the hotel.
