Are LED trees safe for cats?

Real trees are toxic to cats, but artificial LED trees like the cherry blossom model are safe as long as the cat cannot ingest plastic pieces or get tangled in cords. However, cats may still try to climb or chew on them, so secure placement away from jumping points helps prevent accidents.

Summary of Testing Banned Gadgets in a Cat-Friendly Home

Daniel Ferri and his roommate Regina adopted four rescue kittens, which transformed their once-beautiful home into a bare, odor-filled space. They removed soft décor (which the kittens ate), toxic plants, and collectibles, leaving the house looking dull and uninviting. To breathe new life into their living space, Daniel spent $2,407 on eight unusual viral gadgets sourced from the internet, testing each one to see if it could genuinely improve their home while remaining safe for the cats.

The gadgets tested range from decorative items like a cherry blossom LED tree and aurora borealis light lamps to functional devices including an Eight Sleep temperature-controlled mattress topper ($2,000), a flying jellyfish projector, a toad-shaped massage device, and a laptop screen extender. Throughout the video, Daniel and Regina evaluate whether each product actually "spruces up the place" or turns out to be a scam, while the four kittens—Jumba, Curtis, Pepe, and others—create chaos and comedic moments during testing.

Key Moments

Key Gadgets and Testing Results

  • The cherry blossom LED tree provides colorful, decorative lighting and passed the test despite initial concerns about plastic smell; the kittens repeatedly attacked it during setup.
  • The aurora borealis light lamp (shaped like a brain) transforms a room with dynamic colored lighting and works beautifully in both living rooms and showers, earning a clear approval rating.
  • The Eight Sleep temperature-controlled mattress ($2,000) delivers on its promise—Regina reported it gave her "the best sleep of my life" after one night and stopped sleeping on the couch.
  • The flying jellyfish projector looked cool online but proved underwhelming in practice; the cats showed little interest and the effect was less impressive than advertised.
  • The toad-shaped massage device felt like an attack when used and didn't improve the home's appearance, though it did provide a surprisingly soothing neck massage once positioned correctly.
  • The triple-screen laptop extender offers genuine productivity benefits for working from home but is too cumbersome and embarrassing to take anywhere public.

Why Home Gadgets Matter for Pet Owners

Cat owners face a unique challenge: creating an attractive, functional living space while protecting their pets from toxic plants, breakable décor, and hazardous materials. Traditional home improvements often become impractical when cats can destroy soft furnishings, climb Christmas trees, or nibble on poisonous vegetation. This video illustrates both the practical and emotional reality of cat parenting—sometimes a beautiful home matters less than your pet's safety and your own quality of life. The Eight Sleep results highlight how pet-friendly home solutions can actually enhance your wellbeing: better sleep improves your ability to care for your animals. Additionally, it demonstrates that some viral gadgets deliver real value while others are pure marketing, making genuine testing invaluable before spending money.

Frequently Asked Questions About These Home Gadgets

Are LED trees safe for cats?

Real trees are toxic to cats, but artificial LED trees like the cherry blossom model are safe as long as the cat cannot ingest plastic pieces or get tangled in cords. However, cats may still try to climb or chew on them, so secure placement away from jumping points helps prevent accidents.

Can the Eight Sleep mattress topper really improve sleep?

According to the video, yes—Regina experienced immediate results after one night and reported it was "the best sleep of my life." The device monitors body temperature and adjusts water temperature throughout different sleep stages, though the $2,000 investment is substantial and one reviewer mentioned the mattress popped after four years.

Is the aurora borealis lamp actually worth buying?

The video showed it genuinely transforms a room and works well in showers or bedrooms. One reviewer mentioned the light resembles a brain (which it does), but it can be covered. It received approval for improving the home's atmosphere despite the unusual appearance.

Do flying jellyfish projectors work as advertised?

The jellyfish projector looked underwhelming in the video compared to online marketing. While it does create small colored shapes that float, the cats ignored it and the effect was less dramatic than expected—a case of marketing overpromising the actual experience.

Should pet owners buy unusual gadgets online without testing first?

The video demonstrates that online reviews are essential before purchasing. Many of the tested gadgets had negative reviews that proved accurate (the massage device being uncomfortably hard, the laptop extender draining battery). Always read multiple reviews and look for specific complaints before investing, especially for expensive items.

Justin’s Take

This video is genuinely helpful because it shows real testing in a real home with real pets, not a sanitized studio setup. Daniel and Regina's honest reactions—laughing when the massage device feels like an attack, celebrating when the Eight Sleep actually works—make it easy to trust their verdicts. You get to see both the glamorous moments (the aurora lights look stunning) and the practical failures (the jellyfish projector disappointing the cats).

The best part was watching Regina's genuine reaction to the Eight Sleep. She'd been sleeping on the couch for a year because her bed wasn't comfortable, and one night on a temperature-controlled mattress solved the problem. That's the kind of real-world impact that matters beyond just making a room look pretty. If you're a pet owner considering whether to splurge on home gadgets, or you're just tired of buying things that don't work, this is worth watching.

I've been roommating with the girl for a year now. >> Her house used to be such a beautiful home. >> But ever since we adopted four kittens, our house has turned boring and stinky. >> We used to have soft animals, but the kittens eat them. >> So, we removed them. Stinky. >> Our cats will die if they eat the

plants, so we removed them. [music] >> Stinky. Our Smiski collection was a problem, so we removed them. >> Stinky. Because of our cats, our house has become boring and say it with me, all stinky. >> But I spent $2,407 [music] on the most weirdest viral home gadgets I could find on the internet.

>> On the internet. It's hard to say. >> To see if we can breathe some new life into this home. >> But if these turn out to be scams, I guess we're going to get rid of the cats. What? This is a cherry blossom LED tree. This will give our house some oomph. So, we can't have real trees cuz

they're poisonous to cats, but this is fake and it's much more colorful than a normal tree. But someone named Steph bought this, left a one-star review and said, "Okay." But Jenny gave it four stars, but she said the plastic pieces blossoms have a very strong smell. In other words,

stinky. Well, let's get to work. Hope this works cuz me and Regina, my roommate, we love trees. >> During Christmas time, we can't even have a Christmas tree because these little buffoons cause chaos. >> Jumba, Jumba, get down from there. >> They bite the lights, >> Curtis, stop.

>> climb the branches, >> Jumba, down. [music] Down. Jumba? [laughter] Hey, don't bite that. Curtis, stop. Hey. Now, we got to attach the blossoms. Curtis, don't even Hey. Curtis, hey. He's got a He's got a blossom.

HE DROPPED >> CURTIS. [laughter] NO. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. NO, NO, NO. NOW, you attach them. I'll see you in 27 years. Okay, I put as many cherry blossom flowers as I could. It's a lot of work. I don't really I just want to see if it turns on. Please don't be a scam. Pepe,

count me down. >> [music] >> or groom. >> Three, two, one. Cherry blossom. >> [music] >> Wow, look at that. Do it stink? Smells delightful. Jenny, I don't know what you're talking about. So, does this spruce up the place or did I get goose on my face? That means

scammed. Look it up. >> [music] >> That's not a thing. I say buy it. Spruces up the place. >> This is going to blow little Peña's mind over there. What? Keep it down. I mean, look at this thing. It transforms your entire living room with a single light. People are actually be using this in the

shower and stuff. She's going to be so excited. I hope. Unless I got goosed. Melissa says she was a little offput by the light. It looks like a brain. Well, Melissa, who cares? Let's do it, Peña. Spank those feet, girl. Yeah, spank them. That's it. Yeah, get it together. Put some oomph into it.

Oh, what the heck? I got two different ones. Oh. Oh my gosh. That girl, Melissa, was not kidding. That's a straight-up cranium. Why would they make it look like that? Thankfully, you can cover it up with this. Not much to do besides turn it on. Pepe, turn off the lights. >> Hey. Oh.

Check this out. I got the two lamps. Good thing I bought two cuz one [music] brain is definitely bigger than the other. It's you and it's me. I mean, it's I got the big brain. >> No, I meant the the other way around. >> brain. >> the other way around. Three, >> [music] >> two, one.

>> [music] >> It looks really cool. Kind [music] of reminds me of the aurora borealis that we made a whole video about. We saw it with our own ball eyeballs. Oh, it makes Curtis look [music] fabulous. Ooh, photo shoot. People usually use it in the bathroom shower. Want to go in the shower with me

and see? Okay. We can have a movie night and have the light in the shower. Yeah. >> We got to go in your shower, Regina. Here it is. Look at this. Look at your shower. Oh my gosh. >> Don't mind me. Just showering. Ew. I mean, this is incredible. Yeah, cuz usually showering is boring. So,

then you got a bunch of lights and stuff and it's not as like mundane. >> [clears throat] >> Mhm. Are we just going to ignore the elephant in the room? You mean the stallion in the shower? Ew. Oh, looks dope on you. Thank you. I'm definitely giving this a spruces up the house. >> This gadget creates colorful little

jellyfish that fly around your room. What? Is this real? Oh my gosh, the cats are going to go crazy for this. What? Albert R. Sherwood Jr. says, "Very cool. I love it. It is really cool. I am going to get another one. Yes, I am. That's a cool it is and the lights on it is very, very nice and cool." Well, here it is.

Jumba. Looks like a little UFO {slash} headless chicken. Please tell me this is real. Okay. Looks like little fans in here. Interesting. Got some water. Pepe, Curtis, don't drink out of it. You guys like it and the puffer fish aren't even here yet. I mean, the jelly and on. Oh, there's smoke coming out. The cats

are already looking. How do I make it turn to jellyfish? Oh, there There it is. Kind of. Oh, wait a minute. It's starting to kind of work now. Look, those Those kind of look like jellyfish a little bit, right? What is that, Jumba? [music] What is that? Let's put it somewhere darker.

Why are you hiding behind Jumba? Were you afraid of it? Well, to be honest, this is kind of underwhelming. Cats don't really know what to do and neither do I. I mean, it looked cooler online. What do you think, Pepe Hazula? Will this spruce up the place or um You got goose on your face.

Yeah, I think so, too. >> I'm going to surprise my roommate, Regina, with this one. It's called the Eight Sleep. This $2,000 gadget puts water inside your bed so you can warm it up or cool it down so you have an amazing sleep. Regina keeps sleeping out here on the freaking couch cuz she

doesn't like her bed. Aaron Bailey says, "Well, 4 years in, my Eight Sleep popped." Ew, it looks like somebody wet the bed. Actually, looks like the Eight Sleep popped and then he wet the bed. Really, Aaron? Really? It just so happened to pop down there by the pancreas area? Sorry.

This took forever to get here. >> [music] >> Oh my. Let's fill up Regina's bed with hot and cold water. I'm stuck. I'm stuck. I'm stuck. And we got to put the Eight Sleep on, so we're going to remove the sheets. Wrong sheets, universe. That's the way. So, here's the like

mattress topper. We'll put that on like so. Wow, there's like legit a hose coming out of it. Hope Regina's not mad at me. It's better be good. Then it comes with this pod that you fill up with water and then you put it in here and then apparently this should start filling up this mattress topper with hot

water or cold water. Okay, so I just made this side really hot and this side really cold. Here, Curtis. What side do you like more? Oh, he likes it. He likes the warm side. Okay, we're going to put the sheets back on and see if Regina notices tonight when she sleeps. Please don't pop.

Oh my gosh. You scared me. >> The pleasure is mine. >> Why are you wearing that hat? I don't know. Take a look. Plop on the old bed. What did you do? >> The plica flop. Lay down on that side. >> [music] >> What the heck? WHY IS IT SO HOT? NOW, go on that side. Oh my god, it's so cold.

>> [laughter] >> My retainers are on. >> Your retainers are on? My My retainers You wear multiple retainers? >> mouth guard. [clears throat] This is freezing. That's so crazy. >> Go to the warm side. That is actually insane. How did you do this? Did you pee on my bed? NO. IS YOUR PEE STEAMING?

My urine is cold. So, you sleep here. I'll make it a normal temperature and it'll monitor your body temperature throughout the night and it'll make it hotter or colder depending on your sleep stages. Just tell me how you feel in the morning and if you feel more rested. I know that's

cranky. Cranky. Good night, Peña. Good morning. How was your sleep? >> It was the best sleep of my life. >> It tracked you. It said you slept good. >> I won't have to sleep on the couch anymore. Oh, thank gosh. Finally spruces up the place. This looks like a straight-up frog alien who gives you a

massage. Honestly, I don't even know what this has to do with making the living room look better. I mean, I'm Daniel Toads and the thing looks like a toad. Yeah, this might freak out the cats and Regina. Gary says, "One star. Torture device. The massage balls are hard as rocks. Awful. It hurts more than

what it helps." Oh gosh. Here it is. >> [snorts] [laughter] >> That was awkward, but probably not as awkward as this. What heck is that? Do your balls hurt? I mean, this thing has massage balls that will Curtis. Curtis, please. This is a PG show. It

looks like it's going to grab your butt. Bro, let's see if it works. Uh I'd like to apologize about what happened earlier [music] when I put my butt towards the massage gadget and Regina put it on me. [music] It's just It's not who I am. Jumba, hands off the toad. Meow. What part of your body is it supposed to

massage? [music] That's so weird. I hate it. They do hate it. Look at Curtis whack it. Meow. Now, it looks like a turtle on the back of the show. That's kind of a sad sight. Why do they have to make it look like hands? Like they could have just not done that. They could have made it look

like toes. It's It's really gripping. >> Oh my god. Ow. >> Oh, yeah. Get in there, little toad. Ow. It's really hurting. >> Really? And the hands aren't soft. I feel like someone's like attacking me. I'll put it on the Adam's apple of my back neck. What is it on? Your spine? Massage my rear Adam's apple. Oh, it's

actually It's quite nice. Maybe you just haven't been touched in a while. What the heck? Look at me. Look at me. I have a pet toad who massages me. What? I have my own personal massager. It's a toad. Why is it toad? >> like a toad. That's why I bought it. It doesn't look like a toad at all. It

looks like a toad. [laughter] No, it doesn't. Yes, it does. I think I'm losing circulation to my brains. Well, what do you think? Will this really spruce up the place? No. Yep. It's sweet and [laughter] it's sour, and I want to devour mango chutney. Mango chutney. This video took a turn

ever since you came along. >> Hey. Okay, this This is weird. This gadget turns your laptop into a triple screen setup, so you can go to a coffee shop and I am not going to a coffee shop with this thing. I'm going to be the laughingstock of Vegas. But it would be good cuz we work from home, and Regina's

always making a mess and living in a mess. She's editing videos. Someone named Honest says, "Don't buy. This ruined my computer battery and doesn't stand up correctly. [music] Don't buy." Would Honest lie? I sure hope this doesn't explode my MacBook. Here it is. Also, I just want to say

earlier today [music] I sat down in this chair, and I stuck out my rear in a very immature way, and I just [music] want to apologize and say that's not who I am. That's not right. I would like [music] to move forward, and hopefully in the future I can do better. Bada bing. It's okay, Jumbo. I'm okay. I'll be

fine. There's like 17 cables. All right, so I have my laptop here. Okay. Control alt delete. My apologies. This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Oh my gosh. So, this just Curtis, get away from there. Attaches to my laptop. This is going to break my freaking laptop. I don't I'm

okay. Jumbo, I'm fine. No, you don't have to call my mom. Oh, hey. Okay, yeah. Oh my good heavens. There's a screen right here. We'll plug this in. Look at this. I can just drag things from this screen to this screen. Look at that. I mean, that's going to come in handy, but still I wouldn't want to take

this out to the nearest coffee shop. It would just be very embarrassing. I'm trying to turn a new leaf. No more embarrassing Daniel out on the world, out on the internet. I'm going to have to get this goose on my face. Did I spruce up the place, or did the goose lay his egg on me? Whatever. I

already forgot the grading system. >> great. >> No, it doesn't. Looks like the same boring house. Daniel, we have four kitties to spruce up our house. The love we have for our four kitties is so much more worth having a house [music] with plushies or plan Wait, I FORGOT A PRODUCT.
