Is Temu actually a scam or do products really arrive?

Based on this video, Temu is not necessarily a scam in the sense that products do arrive and generally function as described. However, "functioning" does not always mean the product is practical or durable—it works mechanically but may have quality or design limitations that make it less useful than advertised.

Summary of This Temu Cat Products Haul and Scam Test

YouTuber Abram Engle purchased approximately nine to ten cat products from Temu—a budget e-commerce platform known for extremely low prices—to test whether they actually work or represent a scam. He enlisted his cat Kurt as the official product tester, putting each item through real-world use to evaluate quality, functionality, and whether Kurt would actually engage with them. The products included interactive toys, self-grooming brushes, treat dispensers, and even nail clippers, all significantly cheaper than similar items found at mainstream pet retailers like PetSmart.

Contrary to typical scam expectations, most Temu products actually performed their intended functions. Some items proved genuinely popular with Kurt, while others failed to capture his interest despite working mechanically. The creator ranked each product on a scale of zero to ten, discovering that the cheapest items often matched the performance of more expensive alternatives, though build quality and durability raised some concerns. The nail clippers stood out as the clearest failure, producing an unclean cut that required correction with a proper tool.

Key Moments

Key Results from the Temu Cat Product Testing

  • The self-grooming brush and electric rolling ball both earned 8/10 ratings—Kurt actively played with both and the self-groomer proved durable enough for repeated use despite being lightweight.
  • The automatic laser toy scored 7/10; it worked as advertised, though the creator noted concerns about laser play potentially frustrating cats since they cannot catch the beam.
  • A treat-dispensing Ferris wheel toy scored 5/10—it functioned correctly but Kurt struggled to figure out how to extract the treats, making it entertaining to watch but not reliably useful.
  • Two items that performed their mechanical function but failed to engage Kurt (the desk-mounted ball toy and the pop-up scratcher game) scored 4/10 and 1/10 respectively—demonstrating that product quality alone does not guarantee pet interest.
  • The spray massage brush scored 6.5/10; while it worked, the misting action did not catch fur as effectively as a premium version, creating a messier grooming experience.
  • The nail clippers scored 0/10 due to producing a jagged, incomplete cut that required finishing with a proper clipper, making them genuinely unsafe for regular use.

Why Testing Budget Pet Products Matters for Cat Owners

Pet owners routinely face the choice between premium products from established retailers and suspiciously cheap alternatives from discount marketplaces. This video provides concrete evidence that not all budget options are outright scams—many deliver basic functionality at a fraction of the cost. However, the testing also reveals a critical distinction: a product can work mechanically without being worth buying. The nail clipper failure exemplifies a genuine safety concern where cutting corners on materials or design can compromise your cat's health. For cat owners on tight budgets, understanding which categories of products can safely be purchased cheaply (durable toys, brushes) versus which demand quality investment (grooming and health tools) becomes essential decision-making information.

Frequently Asked Questions About Temu Cat Products

Is Temu actually a scam or do products really arrive?

Based on this video, Temu is not necessarily a scam in the sense that products do arrive and generally function as described. However, "functioning" does not always mean the product is practical or durable—it works mechanically but may have quality or design limitations that make it less useful than advertised.

Which Temu cat products performed best in testing?

The self-grooming brush and electric rolling ball both scored 8/10 and proved most popular with Kurt. The laser toy scored 7/10 and also worked reliably, though the creator raised concerns about laser play potentially causing frustration in cats.

Are Temu pet products safe for cats?

Most toys tested were safe, but the nail clippers produced an unsafe, incomplete cut. For health and grooming tools specifically, investing in proper quality is important. Interactive toys like balls and brushes appear safe when properly constructed, though lighter items may shift around easily during use.

How do Temu products compare to PetSmart items?

The video suggests Temu products perform similarly to mainstream retail alternatives in categories like interactive toys and self-groomers, though build quality is noticeably lighter and more flimsy. For roughly equivalent functionality, Temu prices are dramatically lower, but durability and materials may not match premium versions.

Why didn't Kurt like some products that worked correctly?

Pet preferences vary individually—just because a product functions mechanically does not guarantee a cat will find it engaging. The desk-mounted ball toy and pop-up scratcher game both worked but simply did not capture Kurt's interest, suggesting that design appeal to cats is distinct from technical functionality.

Justin’s Take

This video provides real value for budget-conscious pet owners by systematically testing whether discount products deliver actual functionality rather than speculation. Rather than simply assuming all cheap products are scams, the creator demonstrates that many work fine while identifying which categories genuinely need quality investment.

The best part is watching Kurt's genuine reactions to each product—you get honest feedback about what actually engages a cat versus what just looks good in a product photo. This is exactly the kind of practical testing that helps pet owners make informed purchasing decisions, making it well worth watching.

Teemu is selling some of the craziest and cheapest cat products I have ever seen but are they actually just a scam today I'm going to find that out because I ordered a bunch of products from teu and I'm going to find out if they're any good or if I just wasted my money I'm talking self-grooming stations

interactive toys and even a cat scratcher that doubles as a game if these all work Kurt is going to be the happiest cat ever okay all of our teu products have came in we have I think nine or 10 of them right here Kurt immediately got on the counter he is ready to get into this and find out if

these t-u products are legit or a scam which one you want to do first he's doing he's well you touching on this one okay he's touching on this one we'll do this one first okay this is an automatic laser pet toy shows right here you put it on the edge of like a desk and it supposed to just move around on its own

on the ground I've seen some of these before like at PetSmart at legit places so I guess we'll just see if it works or not so it has three modes it looks like or maybe two I don't know oh it might not have any life might have to charge it all right we're going to plug it in see if it shows some Life we'll

let it charge for a bit this is like a self groming house thingy I've had one of these before I don't know exactly what it was labeled on Teemu but I'll put it up on here but we have some really cool stuff coming out like this one attaches to a desk and it's supposed to like move around this is like a

ferris will cat toy that dispenses treats so we have good stuff coming up these are pretty simple it's usually it's called like a self-grooming thing because they can can just come up and rub on it whenever they want and it's like a cat scratcher but I guess doesn't come with any instructions so I guess it

just snaps in and this one comes with a mouse so they can also you can play with it I mean I guess it's not going anywhere I mean it's definitely you can feel the cheapness I mean the Bottom's plastic it's a little you know bendy and flimsy but all that matters is if Kurt likes it or not what do you think

buddy come on come on W [Music] oh he is playing he's not brushing himself but he is playing so I mean he's engaged look Kurt oh there he goes oh my gosh he has brushed himself and played within 45 seconds of me putting this thing on the ground oh my goodness it's a hit he's doing both at the same time oh I'm

actually so surprised oh wow that see the only downside you can see it's sliding when he brushes against it cuz it's pretty light like this doesn't have enough weight on the bottom but I mean he's still playing with it he brushed himself I mean my first impressions are great eight out of 10 on this one I will

leave it out throughout the video to where maybe he can go back on it and we can see a final ranking because at the end we're going to rank all of these products from the worst one to the best one so we'll leave it out so far this one is a hit though this is an electric ball we're going to see if it has juice

or not I'm excited for this one supposed to roll around on the ground and it has this this is the part that I know Kurt will like because balls just like this he doesn't really chase after but he loves Mouse toys and like strings and stuff so this the recipe is there just depends on if it works or not oh there

we go okay it does oh Kurt you [Music] ready woo oh my goodness that thing is fast he loves

it it has different colors on here and it's like different modes so I guess we can see which way he like which mode he likes the most W wo wo wo wo what do you think [Music] Buddy oh he got it [Music]

he got it he has it good job Kurt he does not want to let go I'm pretty [Music] impressed this thing can even roll on carpet it makes it not as loud which I think Kurt likes more we are actually off to a phenomenal start and I think I would have to give this an8 out of 10 as well teu so far is not a scam okay this

is an electric spray handle massage brush and Kurt has one that he loves already in one of our other videos it's like a spray brush and he loves this thing so we do have something to compare it to this one was way cheaper though so I am interested to see if it's a scam or not also a different material it's like

a rubber brush instead of the spike one but it has a little handle that can fold out so that's pretty cool let's see if Kurt just likes it without the spray what we thinking buddy okay okay he likes it it's it's brush approved but as you can see oh wow it does did get some hair but in the back

here you can fill it up with water and then we can turn it on okay it does have battery so let's test that part out okay has water in there Kurt is involved Kurt likes Teemo so far I have a feeling something will go wrong eventually and it might be this who knows let's see if the spray

works oh look he's looking at the spray oh it does the same thing it stops like this and it goes like this okay I mean that's pretty impressive let's see if Kurt likes the spray oh yeah oh my gosh look at that hair building up oh okay it's not catching it to pick that up get that

okay okay it's not catching it like the other brush does he's the other brush will actually catch the hair this one I mean it's catching some hair but if you saw it just kind of built up on Curt so that's not ideal I mean it did work but it's kind of messy it's not as clean as the other one but Kurt did like

it and it did work so I would have to I give it like a 6.5 or a s out of 10 this one is a scratcher that doubles as a game I see these at PetSmart and like all of those places all the time so I have seen these but I don't I might have had one before I don't know but we're going to see if C likes it you can see

it has these little guys in there and these levers make them come up after I unwrap it and it's also a scratcher First Impressions it's pretty low quality these things are not like lined up correctly and they're really loose so not the greatest quality and like the whole box is moving he does not care the ones I've

seen are a lot more smoother than this it's is pretty pretty poor quality this might be our first scam maybe not a scam but a fail I'll leave it out but as of right now this thing is at a 1 out of 10 cuz Kurt only sniffed it when I brought it out and that's it so not not a very good

sign for that one this is the automatic lifting cat teaser ball and you're supposed to attach it to like the side of a desk or something we're going to do it right here it's like the perfect width for the side of a desk I'm excited supposed to like move around on its own and Kurt should like it Kurt loves stuff

like like this unless it's a scam then obviously he won't so that's locked on there you put it right here then you screw this I really hope this works what do you think Buddy why isn't he playing I'm so confused what he would usually love this come on buddy it does what it says so

it's not a scam but Kurt's not liking it why not he didn't use it so I'm going to have to give it I guess a four sadly I was really excited about this one this is one that shocks me this one I am super excited about it is a treat Ferris will I mean this looks awesome there's a suction cup on the bottom so I guess it

can stick to places just matters if it works or not I also don't know why it's so spinny filling it up with treats so I'm cured I'm like meow come on give me a tree meow Bingo wo look buddy you smell that those are treats we got it suction CED good look see if he can figure it out come on you got to get in

there uh-oh oh one just came out see look watch come on Kurt you're smart you can figure this out buddy oh oh he can't figure it out he can't figure it out here buddy

[Music] look there's you some treats it's a cool concept I guess a cat either figures it out or they don't I mean it does work Kurt just isn't really he can't really figure it out we go a solid five on this one all right Kurt oh look at him get it

buddy who oh get it whoa it has different modes I'm doing this one now well it's not really they all kind of seem the same

all right it works I mean this thing does work and Kurt is loving it so I would I would give this a solid seven only reason I say seven instead of the other ones that were at was because it is a laser with lasers and cats I've always heard this I don't know how true it is but apparently they like can't

stand that they can't catch it and it will like eat him up so I have this other toy here to where I can get his attention on that and make him feel like he caught something to get his attention off of the laser so I know that's kind of confusing might not make sense but that's just something I've always heard

and that's why you might have heard it's not good to play with lasers with cats so see look at him he can't catch it look buddy here's this woo woo there we go he got him his catch cuz cats are Hunters so they like to catch whatever they are hunting so there we go the laser was good though it did what it

said it's definitely not a scam so I do give it a solid seven out of 10 now we have this toy I think a mouse comes out of here I'm not a 100% sure I just know it's an electric toy of some sort oh I've seen that oh it goes out and in that's cool okay that's actually pretty sick all right that's a slow and

then it has a fast okay Kurt actually might really like this let's see he's entertained by it like a TV show but he won't actually play with it it's not a scam but I mean there are pieces of it that might could be better to catch his attention more cuz but look at him he's messing with

the feathers this one in the ball is in the same boat I mean they both did what they said they were going to do I Al actually thought Kurt was going to like both of them but it did not ultimately so I guess I'll give this one a four just like I did the ball I saved these for last cuz I had no idea how Kurt

would react but this is nail clippers but not just any nail clippers so you do just like this to clip his nails and this is supposed to catch it and it also has a light if you turn that on to where you can maybe see you need to see better or something a little bit of a fancy one but it was very cheap from teu so that's

why I am scared um and we're going to be very careful I'm only going to do the very tip of his claw it's not very sharp see it wasn't a clean cut so I got to go fix that with an actual nail clipper I'm giving this a zero okay this is our ranking of all the teu products we have worst to best we

have the nail clippers in the bottom which is kind of sad they had high potential but that's a zero then we have the scratcher SL toy game it's a one cuz I mean Kurt didn't really pay attention to it he did end up sitting on it so maybe a two but it's still right there these are tied at four they both did

exactly what they said they were going to do but Kurt just did not like them for whatever reason then you have the hairbrush it's sitting on a paper towel cuz it actually has a leak so that kind of might knock off some point but it did do what it said then you have the laser at a seven and then the ball and the

self groomer tied at an eight so that is the teu products I overall am pretty impressed we didn't really have any scams I mean these two are borderline maybe a scam but I mean honestly all the products did what they said and they were all really cheap so I am very surprised actually and Kurt he is as

well
