Summary of This Temu Cat Gadget Testing Video
Sophie Louise revisits a concept she filmed years ago—testing quirky cat products, this time from Temu instead of the now-defunct Wish platform. The video centers on her cat Moon, a notoriously picky feline, as she puts seven different budget-friendly cat gadgets through their paces in real-world conditions. Each product costs just a few pounds, ranging from interactive toys to practical feeding solutions, and Sophie provides honest reactions about whether they actually work or simply look cute on a shelf.
Throughout the testing, Moon's personality shines as the reluctant subject. He shows little interest in some items, immediate enthusiasm for others, and his signature habit of obsessively splashing water becomes a running theme. Sophie narrates her observations with humor and realism, acknowledging that just because a product is cheap doesn't mean it's worthless, and noting that some gadgets might grow on a cat over time rather than impressing on first contact.
Key Moments
Key Points About These Temu Cat Products
The giant strawberry scratch pad (£9) looks adorable but struggles with durability; Moon showed initial curiosity but no strong interest in actually scratching it.
A bristly arch toy with a dangling mouse (£7) captured Moon's attention immediately, though he fixated on the toy rather than using the brush feature as intended.
A cheap toy gun that shoots soft fluffy balls (£1.26) successfully entertained Moon, who chased the balls across the room multiple times.
A non-slip water bowl with splash guards (£5.39) failed its primary purpose; Moon still managed to tip and splash water despite the rubber base and raised edges.
A flapping duck toy with sound effects (£4.31) proved surprisingly effective at holding Moon's attention, even though the quacking sounds are jarring and unnatural.
A retractable cat wand with tinsel and feathers presented safety concerns because Moon tends to swallow loose strings, making it unsuitable for unsupervised play.
Why Budget Cat Gadgets Matter to Pet Owners
Budget shopping platforms like Temu have made it easier and cheaper than ever to experiment with new cat toys and enrichment without breaking the bank. However, Sophie's video demonstrates that low cost doesn't automatically mean low quality or low appeal—and conversely, an expensive product isn't guaranteed to work for your pet. Testing these gadgets honestly helps cat owners make smarter purchasing decisions and understand what features actually matter, like sturdiness versus novelty. The video also highlights practical considerations that go beyond cuteness, such as safety risks (like swallowable tinsel) and the reality that some cats need time to warm up to new items rather than playing with them immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions About Testing Temu Cat Products
Why did Moon ignore some products immediately?
Cats are highly individual in their preferences. Moon is described as "a little bit fussy," and some items—like the strawberry scratch pad—simply weren't what he was interested in at that moment. Sophie notes that he might eventually use them if left out over time, as cats sometimes need to explore and understand new objects gradually.
Which product performed best in the video?
The toy gun shooting soft balls was arguably the most successful, as Moon actively chased the projectiles multiple times. The flapping duck also surpassed expectations by holding his attention despite the alarming sound effects, earning a solid rating despite being a novelty toy.
Is the non-slip water bowl actually effective?
Not for Moon. Although the bowl felt well-made and sturdy, and the silicon material was the best quality among all the items tested, Moon still managed to tip it and splash water everywhere. This suggests that determined cats will find ways around water containment no matter the design.
What's the main risk Sophie identified with these products?
Loose, swallowable materials are the biggest concern. Sophie mentions that Moon has a history of swallowing string and requiring veterinary intervention, making items with tinsel and loose feathers potentially dangerous without constant supervision.
Should pet owners buy products from Temu for their cats?
Sophie's honest take is that some items are worth the few pounds spent, especially toys, since cats' preferences are unpredictable and you're not risking much financially. However, practical items like the water bowl may not solve the problems they promise, and safety features (like removable parts) should be scrutinized before purchase.
This video is genuinely helpful if you're considering buying budget cat toys or want realistic expectations about low-cost pet products. Sophie doesn't pretend cheap items are miracle solutions; she tests them fairly, acknowledges when they look cute even if they don't work, and shows actual cat behavior rather than staged enthusiasm.
My favorite part was watching Moon's immediate dive for the dangling mouse on the brush arch—it perfectly captured how easily a cat's attention can be pulled in unexpected directions, and Sophie's willingness to laugh at his antics made the whole experience feel authentic rather than scripted. Definitely worth watching if you shop for cat enrichment products on a budget.

Hello. Welcome back to another video. Today I'm going to be filming a part two of a video that I did many, many years ago. Um, I've had quite a lot of people request that I do this again. In fact, I get a lot of requests in general to do videos with Moon. Um, and I mean, this one is all about him. So, if you're a
cat enjoyer, this one is for you. Yeah. Basically, many, many years ago, I did a video where I tested a bunch of like weird cat products from Wish. Um, and I'm basically doing that again, but not from Wish. Does Wish even exist anymore? I don't know. I'm doing it with Teimu because I feel like that is today's
version of Wish, the most miserable looking chap. Okay, you're free to go, sir. Yeah, he's a little bit of a fussy mother freicker, so it's very likely he won't be interested in any of these things, but I thought I would try. I've got a real range of all sorts, so surely there's something he'll like. Item number one.
Where do I start? I know exactly where I'm going to start. How freaking cute is this? It's basically like a giant strawberry scratch pad. He's never had anything like this before. He has like a scratch post, but he's never had a scratch pad, so I don't know if he'll actually use it. Oh, okay. I mean,
it doesn't feel like I mean, it's not the most incredible quality ever. Like, it it's um it's fine, though. Like, I mean, I'm sure it would do the job. This is the scratchy bit obviously. Yeah. I mean it doesn't feel like the most sturdy thing possible. I feel like if Moon sits on this will probably go
through it. He is quite large so that's that's fair enough. This is probably designed for like little kittens. How much did it cost? Oh, it was like £9. But I don't know. I'm interested to see if he'll give it a little scratch and if he'll like it. Are you ready to test out many many things?
Yeah. Well, this is the strawberry. Here's a little closeup of it. Obviously, this is the scratchy part. So far, not interested. He hasn't even walked over to it yet. Hang on. He's giving it a sniff. Give it a scratch, man. Scratch. No, not quite. Almost.
To be fair, I think it's one of those things that maybe if I leave it out for a while, he might eventually realize what it is. No matter how I turn it, he just wants to go for the stalk. Okay. What would you rate this one out of 10? I know you haven't used it yet, but we can take cuteness into account. Yeah,
that's it. you think long and hard that I think that's a good rating. Um, and I feel like maybe he will use it in time, but for now, I think it's just going to go and look cute in my office somewhere. Okay, the next thing is another Well, it's not really. It's like another scratchy item, but it's not so
much something for him to scratch. It's something to scratch him. I saw this and it had really good reviews, so I'm really interested to see if he'll like it. It's basically like like a big arch that your cat can like go under and kind of like brush themselves against. It also has a little dangly mouse hanging
off of it. He'll probably like that. He does love things that dangle, don't we all? I mean, yeah. Yeah, it it is what it is. This guy has seen better days. Oh my goodness. I feel like this is fine. It is just kind of like a bristly brush texture and then you've got this base that you stick it on and then Yeah. Is
it even going to fit under that? I mean, it's supposed to be a tight squeeze cuz the whole point is he's supposed to like brush past the bristles and it's going to brush his fur. Yeah, I'm interested to see if he'll use it. It cost me roughly £7. So, yeah, I feel like that's not too bad. I haven't even
put this one down yet and he's already interested. Yeah, this is the little scratched thingy. A um yeah, I've put it together. I don't know if I put it together very well. It's kind of like hanging out, but I couldn't get it in any further. So, he's immediately grabbed the mouse. Oh, he's stuck on it.
Hang on. I just really want to see if he'll actually like brush against it. Okay. He's just going to get distracted by that, isn't he? Oh, yep. He's already eating it. So, we like the mouse. If we just ignore the mouse for a second. Look at this part. It's all bristly. Oh,
he's walked off now. how he lost interest. But I wonder if the mouse wasn't on there if he might have been a bit more interested in the bristly bit. This part, I don't think he realizes that it is like a brush and it is supposed to feel nice. But again, a bit like the last thing, it might be
something that over time he'll gradually realize and he'll use it. But as of right now, outside is way more interesting apparently. And I'm also so glad that the light is making it impossible to see our garden um cuz it's such a state. What do we think then? What we going to rate this one out of 10?
Probably a little bit higher if you actually use it and like it. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Oh, he is so done. I saw this and I thought this looks like fun. Not only for him, but for me as well. It's a lot smaller than I thought. I was expecting Well, I wasn't expecting like a freaking but like I was expecting it
to be a little bit bigger than this. I mean, I'm sure it would still do the job. It's basically a little toy gun and there's a bunch of fluffy balls that you insert into it. Then you shoot them out. It's supposed to be fun for your cat to like run after and chase them. Oh yeah. I mean that is really quite terrible in
terms of quality. It's just like a little floppy plastic thing. Um it feels like it could break any second. How do I even How do I even Um it cost me uh oh £126. So very affordable and I'm very excited to shoot my cat with soft balls and hopefully he interacts with it somehow.
So here's a little closeup. As you can see, it is very cheap looking, but I mean it is cheap. It was literally like a pound, so I can't really complain. But yeah, I don't fully understand how it works cuz you can't pull the trigger. I think you kind of do it with this. Sniff sniff. I think you like pull this
bit back. put the ball inside and then just Yeah, that worked pretty nicely. I'm not gonna fire it straight at him. I'm gonna try and go past him. A He ran after it. Okay, so we pull it back, put the ball inside, and then let go. You ready? I mean, he does go after them. Okay, one
more. A wait, that's so cute. That's so cute. Anyway, I I think this was fine. Um, what are your thoughts on this one? If I could interrupt you for one second. Oh, he's stinking. I I I feel like it's not like anything amazing, but it does the job. So, I
think it's all right. Let's go for something a little more practical next. I basically saw this like water bowl that's supposed to be good for cats who like to knock their bowls over. Um because that's exactly what he does cuz he's a little I saw this. It's basically got like a kind of rubber
stand that kind of sticks to the floor so they can't push it around as much. And if he does sort of flick it out of the bowl, it's also got this edge around it that kind of catches the water so it's not all over the floor. I think I've said before, but we have to put his water bowl in the sink and that's the
only place he can have it and he drinks out of it there. um because he just knocks it over if I put it anywhere else. So, um I'm interested to see if this works and stops him from being such a menace. Okay, this feels nice. It's in this like silicon material. Um it feels like good quality. This is the best
quality feeling item so far. And then obviously you've got the little bowl that just sits in there. I like the color. I went for the purple as you can see and I think it looks very nice. It's a very nice shade of purple. It cost me £5.39 so it wasn't like expensive at all. Okay, we have the cat bowl.
footage. You can kind of see me in it. Um, obviously this isn't where I'm going to keep it in the middle of the living room. Um, but just to test it out, I thought I'd do it here. Yeah, it seems to be pretty sturdy. Like I can't really move that around, so I imagine he won't be able to. But yeah, I'm just going to
go and put some water in this. Hello. Wa. You can see like my whole living room in this. Um, okay. I'm going to go fill this up. Oh my goodness. I can hear him. He knows there's water. He's coming. Can he make a mess with this? He's immediately going to try hitting it. I guarantee. I don't
know why, but if he sees water, he just has to hit it. See, that's what he does. He like taps the side of the bowl. So, as you can imagine, if it's one that isn't secure like that, it just hits around and then the water splashes over the edge and it makes an absolute mess. He can still
slightly move it. What the hell, man? You're not supposed to be able to. Yeah, he's just obsessed with spilling water. [Music] Oh wow, this worked really well, didn't it? I should have known. E, this man will always find a way.
Splattered it in my face. It's kind of cute, though. Like, he finds it really fun and it's probably keeping him cool by getting his paws wet. So, another splash, bro. He's got some range with that. We are fully in the splash zone. Okay, he's walking off. Yeah, he had no trouble at all tipping that up. So,
yeah, I guess that's a fail. It was worth a try. I guess I'll probably rate this one like a three cuz it didn't really work, but it is a nice product. Like, it's a nice cat bowl. But, yeah, if you're getting it in hopes to stop your cat from tipping it up, they can still tip it up. Let's do the duck next.
something not quite so practical, but I think he might like this. This is a flapping wings duck. I mean, it it kind of just is what it says. It's a duck with wings that flap. A It's cute. This is what it looks like. I mean, he looks a little bit like he's been bashed in the head, but that's okay. He's going to
get bashed in the head some more, so that's fine. It It's It's cute, right? It's cute. What's this? Why is his ass open? Oh, I see. I feel like that's not very closed. Now, my guy's gonna open that up and pull this bit out and break it within seconds, I reckon. But anyway, that's how you turn it on
and off. It's through its Let's turn it on and see. Yeah, I hate that. Why does it sound like that? I mean, we'll give it a go. I I think he'll probably jump, but yeah, this might be 4 pound 31. So random. This might be4 pound 31 down
the drain cuz I don't think he's going to like it. Okay, the duck is out. I'm gonna see what he thinks of it first without turning it on and then I'm going to very carefully turn it on without causing him to absolutely himself. Hey, what's this? Yeah, not interested. But can I interest
you in this? Oh. Oh, maybe he has to hit it for it to do it again. I feel like the duck sound effects could be worked on. They're um they're a little alarming.
Oh. Oh. I mean, he's kind of interested. He's playing with it a little bit. He said, "Shush, please." I would say that was kind of a success. He was more interested than I thought he was going to be. I thought he wouldn't go near it. So, what are we going to rate this one then?
I swear he just gave me an eye roll. I feel like, you know, it's nothing special, but it's a nice little cat toy. I guess I'm going to go for another toy next. I feel like after probably torturing him with the flappy duck, he's going to like this. Like, he's 100% going to like this one. Ain't no way
he's not interested in something as dangly as this. This is a retractable cat wand. It's basically like a thing that you hold. It's got a dangly bit on it. Then it's got some like colorful feathers hanging off the bottom. He loves stuff like that. His favorite toy ever is like a really long dangly thing
with like bird feathers on the end. I feel like this is similar. Okay. I didn't realize the feathers were just like tinsel cuz it's stuff like this that if he rips that off, he'll swallow that hole. It's happened before. He swallowed like a really long piece of string. and we had to take him to the
vets and he had to be like forced to get it back out of him if you get what I'm saying. So, that was fun. Yeah, I would not be able to leave him unattended with this cuz he would swallow them. Wait, there are feathers as well. A Okay, this one's a little bit better. Um, I'm guessing you can like
swap the ball out on the end. Freak. Yeah, it's very retractable. I was expecting it to like gradually extend, not just erupt like that. I'm glad I tested it for the first time here by myself and not right in front of him. Could you imagine? He's right in front of me. That that could have ended bad. It comes
out with quite some force as well. And then I think the idea is you can extend this bit as well. And then you can make it shorter. Oh my. Um yeah, you can just kind of change the size. Um it cost me £3.93. I thought this one would be more actually. Like this one feels like good quality. It feels very sturdy and
wellmade. So yeah, for four quid, that's pretty good. Just as I expected, he's immediately interested in this. See, he's going to try and eat it straight away. See, you basically just press the button. Now it's a little bit longer. Look at his little face. What the hell? And then you can make the string a bit
longer as well, so he can grab it. Oh, he likes it. I knew he'd like this one. I mean, he definitely likes the tinsel.
I can't see this lasting long. Um, but I think I can pop this ball out and then swap it. Yeah, that was really easy to swap them over. Do you like the feathers? probably going to try and eat those as well. Yeah, there we go. Oh dear. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Uh, so this is how the feathers are looking.
Sorry, mate. Yeah, I think we might have to get some replacement heads for it. I don't know if you can do that cuz I can't really see this lasting too long either. And the feathers lasted all of 30 seconds. Um, but apart from that, I think it's great. What are we going to give this one out of 10?
I think this one is one of the better toys that we've had in the video. Okay, I have another practical item. This is incredibly boring. I basically bought a litter mat, but it's like a kind of mat that collects the litter inside of it and then you just take this away and pour it out and just empty it out of it.
Does that make sense? Wowee. It is very big. Um, a little bigger than I expected actually. Yeah, that's basically the idea. So, it's kind of like this. The litter falls through these little holes and then you can just like pick this up. It's like a bag and empty it out when you need to. I think that's a good idea.
It cost me £532, so not that bad at all. And yeah, as boring as it is, I will do a little testing clip and let you know if it works. So, this is where we keep his litter. Um, and as you can see, it just gets everywhere and then it obviously like spreads throughout the house as well. And it's obviously fine. I can
just hoover this up each day. But I am curious to see if this mat helps a little bit. So yeah, I'm going to give this a hoover and then I will put it into place. Oh my goodness, this could not have been any more perfect. It fits so nicely in that little gap. So that's pretty good. It does kind of sit like
upwards a bit, but I feel like in time it will flatten out. Yeah, I feel like that's perfect. I guess now I'll just leave it and I will check back in in maybe like 24 hours and we'll see if it has collected the litter. It is the next day. This is how it's looking. I feel like it's worked pretty well. There's
definitely still some bits kind of scattered around the edge, but it's collected a lot of it up. Yeah, look, there's loads in there. So, yeah, what I can now do is collect this up and then just pour this out into the bin. I think that's great. That is a much easier way of keeping the litter in like one place
instead of it scattering everywhere. I'm going to give this a solid 8 out of 10. I'm very happy with it. I think it's going to be very helpful and yeah, stops him from making such a mess. Yay. I have another toy next. And this looked really cute. I feel like it will look quite nice in our living room cuz it's wooden
and our living room is becoming quite woody. I say that I I don't know like how good the quality is going to be, but I don't know. I just thought it was quite nice. This is basically a like wacky toy. Wait, this is cute. This is actually made quite nicely. Like I feel like this one's pretty decent quality.
Um it's in the shape of like a little cloud and then you've got oh these like paws on the bottom which are obviously the levers that you press to make the mice pop out. This is what they look like. They're just like little fluffy mice thingies. I have no idea if he will have any interest in it, but um that is
what we will find out. This cost me I think this was a bit more expensive than other things. Uh yeah, this was roughly £13, so a little bit more than other things, but I can see why. Okay, I've got the little wacky toy out. I don't know if he's going to have any interest in this. I feel like it doesn't do
enough. He is currently sat there. He's sort of eyeing it up, but he hasn't come over yet. Perhaps I will bring it to him. Here you go. a gift for you. I mean, he's looking at them, but he ain't hitting them. Yay.
I mean, he wasn't completely uninterested. He did hit the middle one a little bit. And I feel like again, probably one of those things if I leave it out and we try it a few times, he might get used to it and play with it more. Um, but yeah, I like this. I think it's cute. Yeah, nothing beats his
favorite toy. Um, I think this one was nice. What are your thoughts? Mhm. Mhm. Okay, we've got two more items left. I'm saving the best one till last. Um, but first of all, I have this. This is a like little miniature tunnel. He has like a kind of cat tunnel that we keep in the living room, but I kind of wanted
a smaller version to put in my office. Um, so he can maybe like sit in there when I'm in here. Uh, and I saw this one and I thought it looked really cute because it has stars on it and the stars are glow-in-the-dark and I spend a lot of time in here in the dark. Not like just sat in the dark, but like obviously
when I'm on my computer in the evening, it's quite dark in here. So, I feel like that will look really cute just having that in the corner and he can sit in it. This one feels nice. Like this is a really nice soft material. Like this feels like good quality. But yeah, I'm not going to get it all out yet. But
this is basically what the pattern looks like. I can't remember what shape it is. I feel like it wasn't just a long tunnel. No, it's like a three-way tunnel. It's got like three exits, so that'll be even more exciting for him. Um, I think he'll fit. It cost me Oh, it was around £15. So, another thing that's
a little bit more than the others, but I can see why. Okay, so I've just got the tunnel out. This is what it looks like. I think it's it's quite cute. I need to sort of stretch it out a little bit, I think. Got a little dangly ball on it, which he's probably going to love. I don't even know where he's gone. I need
to locate the man himself and see if he likes it. I was kind of thinking, is it going to be too small? But no, that is definitely big enough for him to fit in. He ain't that fat. I mean, he's in there. A He loves it. That was pretty quick. I thought it might take him a while to get used to
it, but he is straight in there. I really want him to poke his head out the hole on the top. That would be so cute. Oh my gosh, he's so big. He's got an arm out one side, his tail out the other side. But I would say this one is a massive success. He's immediately gone in there and sat down and made himself
comfy. So that's very cute. Anyway, I'll insert a clip now of later tonight when hopefully the glow-in-the-dark stars are working. Could I please have your rating of this one? I feel like this is one of the best products in the video. Definitely top three. Okay, the final item is a cat
treadmill. Um, I saw this and I just thought I have to try it. I have to see if he will use it. I honestly don't know if he will, but I just want to try and I kind of want to see how it works. I I'm not going to be able to get this out. The box is huge. So, I'm just going to have to save all of this for the testing
clip. But, it's basically, well, I can put a little picture. It's basically a kind of circle wheel, a bit like a hamster wheel, and if your cat runs on it, it kind of moves like a treadmill. I mean, I guess I could open the box and we can get some bits out and have a look at the parts. Um, one sec. We have this
piece here. He's coming in. I was wondering how long it would take him to join us. Yeah, we have this big plastic kind of piece like this. And then you've just got a bunch of these kind of like curved pieces that I guess you got to like put them together to make the wheel. Um, so I do need to build this.
But I mean, in terms of quality, it feels pretty nice. Like it's not just like crappy plastic. I mean, it's plastic, but it feels like kind of decent quality. Yeah, I like that it's also got the little paw prints on it. That's cute. I feel like that actually seemed pretty good. It did cost me
£5357. So, you know, it's definitely the most expensive thing in the video, but I think that is to be expected with something that big. And, you know, it's like a full-on freaking treadmill. Well, not quite, but I I think that's all right if it works. So, yeah, we will see how that one goes. Okay, here it is.
I've just finished building the wheel thing. It was really easy to make. Like, really, really easy. You just kind of clip these bits into each other and then just like attach this kind of carpet into the middle. but it just kind of velcroed on. Um, and then you just pop it on the stand and you're good to go.
So, super easy to make. And then it just spins like this. I'm trying to lure him on with his favorite toy. I really want him to just like naturally climb on it. I don't want to have to plunk him on there cuz he'll hate that. We're going to try the biscuit approach.
Yeah, he's just going to eat them from there, isn't he? He's on there. I just put him on there and he's staying. But the only reason he's staying is because there's biscuits. He's going to get straight off afterwards. Ah, I had a pretty strong feeling that he wouldn't try this. But I just really
wanted to get it and see what it was like. And honestly, I think it's pretty good. Like I said, quality is great. It works. I think I'm going to give it a solid I think like an eight out of 10. Like I can't really fault it. I've been sat here editing for maybe like three hours with my camera at the ready in
case he uses it, but he hasn't. I don't think we're gonna get him using it in this one. I probably should have known that, but if I ever do get him to use it, I will obviously film it. But yeah, for now, he's not interested. Thanks for filming with me. I appreciate it. Those are all of the cat products I have to
test. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I hope you enjoyed seeing Moon. I'm sure you did. He's quite delightful. If you did enjoy, give it a big thumbs up. Maybe I'll do another one of these, a part three in like another four years time. Who knows? Thank you so much for watching and I will see you very, very
soon. Uh, definitely not another month will pass before a video goes up, right? Surely not. Love you. Bye. [Music]
