Summary of This Top 5 Cat Toys Review
In this video, Mallory from We're All About Cats presents five of the best interactive cat toys available on the market today. She explains that playtime isn't optional for cats—it's essential to their health and wellbeing, as it taps into their natural hunting instincts, reduces stress, and keeps them mentally and physically stimulated. Rather than simply recommending toys based on market research, the reviewer purchased all five products with her own money and tested them with her two cats, Wessie and Forest, to provide honest, firsthand feedback.
The five toys reviewed are the Catit Super Roller Circuit Toy, Petstages Tower of Tracks, Cat Dancer, Hexbug Nano, and Petsafe Interactive Feeder Toy. Each toy offers a different play style—from motion-activated ball tracks to simple wand toys to robotic scurrying insects to food-dispensing balls. The reviewer walks through the price, durability, design, and her actual experience with each product, noting both the toys' strengths and limitations, as well as sharing why her own cats didn't always respond as enthusiastically as other customers report.
Key Moments
Key Points About These Interactive Cat Toys
The Catit Super Roller Circuit Toy ($11.99) features a motion-activated light-up ball moving through a durable track; it's well-made and expandable with other Catit Senses products, though replacement balls cost extra when batteries die.
The Petstages Tower of Tracks ($8.89) has three circular tracks with lightweight plastic balls and outstanding customer reviews for sturdiness and longevity, with rubber pads to prevent slipping—though it requires no replacement parts.
The Cat Dancer is a springy wire toy with rolled cardboard bundles that mimics insect flight; it's been tested by over 8 million cats and works well for interactive play, even for people with limited mobility who can operate it with a wrist flick.
The Hexbug Nano ($7.49) is a battery-operated robotic toy that scurries like a cockroach or small rodent; it works best on hard floors, though it can flip over and may not right itself quickly enough to hold a cat's attention.
The Petsafe Interactive Feeder Toy ($6.95) combines play with food dispensing, making it ideal for fast eaters or overweight cats; it has two hole-size settings and is made from dishwasher-safe, BPA-free plastic.
Individual cat personalities vary greatly—toys with strong customer reviews may not engage every cat, so trying different styles may be necessary to find what works for your pet.
Why Cat Enrichment Through Play Matters
Cats are natural predators, and without adequate stimulation, they can become stressed, overweight, or behaviorally challenged. Interactive toys bridge the gap between a cat's instinctive need to hunt and stalk and the reality of indoor living. Investing in quality toys not only enriches your cat's daily life but can also reduce destructive behavior, help maintain a healthy weight, and strengthen your bond through interactive play. The video emphasizes that playtime is not a luxury—it's a fundamental part of responsible cat care and overall wellness.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Best Cat Toys
Why does the reviewer say playtime is essential for cats?
Cats are natural predators, and play taps into their hunting instincts. Regular play keeps them mentally and physically stimulated, helps reduce stress, and is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Without adequate play, cats can become bored, anxious, or develop health problems.
Did the reviewer's cats like all five toys?
No. The reviewer found that her own two cats, Wessie and Forest, didn't show much interest in most of the toys, despite their popularity with other customers. She notes this is likely a personality issue, as many other cat owners report loving these same products. This underscores that every cat has different preferences.
Which toy is best for cats that eat too quickly?
The Petsafe Interactive Feeder Toy is specifically designed for cats who eat too fast and regurgitate, or for overweight cats. It dispenses food as the ball rolls, combining play with feeding and encouraging exercise during mealtime.
What are the advantages of the Cat Dancer over other toys?
The Cat Dancer is inexpensive, simple, and requires minimal effort from the owner. Its springy wire creates movement that mimics flying insects, and you can generate interesting motion with just a wrist flick, making it accessible even for people with limited mobility or those who can't move around much.
Do any of these toys have ongoing replacement costs?
Yes. The Catit Super Roller Circuit Toy requires purchasing replacement motion-activated balls ($5.89 for a two-pack) when the battery dies, since the battery cannot be replaced. The other toys have no recurring costs beyond occasional cleaning.
This video is genuinely helpful because it combines honest market research with firsthand testing and transparent pricing. Instead of just listing popular toys, the reviewer actually used them at home and admitted when they didn't work for her own cats, which builds trust and sets realistic expectations.
What I appreciated most was how Mallory explained the reasoning behind each toy—why cats need play, what instincts each toy triggers, and practical details like whether toys work on carpet or how much replacement parts cost. Her acknowledgment that her cats didn't love most of these toys, even though they're beloved by millions of others, is refreshingly honest. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this video to anyone shopping for cat toys.

Hello, I'm Mallory. I'm here with We're All About Cats. And in this video, we're going to be talking about the best interactive cat toys. So for cats, playtime isn't really optional. It's not just a nice little thing to add into your cat's routine. It's an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. So
cats are natural predators, right and playing taps into those natural hunting instincts and keeps them satisfied and healthy and helps to reduce their stress. So it's really important to make sure that your cat gets in play into their life. Now, there's lots of different ways that cats can
play. They don't even necessarily need toys to get some good play in. But investing in a few good interactive cat toys can absolutely help your cat to get the stimulation that they need. So after researching the cat toy market and identifying which toys have received the best customer
reviews and have really solid reputations for quality, longevity And entertainment, we've chosen the following five products as the best you can buy and then took things a step further by purchasing all of those toys with our own money, and then testing them out with my two cats, Wessie and Forest.
So in a moment, we're going to jump into our reviews and I'll be telling you all about these toys and my personal experience with each of them. As we go through the reviews, you'll see links in the upper right of your video player, allowing you to learn more about each of these products. So without further
ado, let's jump into the reviews and talk about our top five recommendations for the best cat toys you can buy. So our number one recommendation is the Catit Seses super roller circuit toy. So this toy consists of a track through which moves a motion activated light up ball. So once everything set up, you're going
to have a motion activated light up ball that moves through the track and entices your cat to poke his paws through the openings and give that ball a whack. The tracks seemed really durable, it didn't slide around on the ground a lot. It seemed to be overall really well made. Note also that you can pair this
track with other Catit Senses toys, so you can really expand out your selection of toys and create a little kitty cat playground. I didn't find that my cat seemed to interested in it. I really liked the design and I wish that my cats would have been interested but I really didn't see them playing
much with it. They would look at it and then I would think maybe they would play with it. I would try to encourage them to play with it by poking it myself, but they really just didn't seem too interested. I know a lot of other customers say that their cats absolutely love playing with this toy. The Catit Senses
super roller circuit toy cost $11 and 99 cents up front and you're also going to have to purchase replaceable balls. So you can't replace the battery in the motion activated ball. You'll have to buy a new one every time that battery dies. A two pack of replacement balls cost $5 and 89 cents. Our next
recommendation is the Petstages Tower of Tracks interactive cat toy. So this toy has three different circular tracks around which spin three lightweight plastic balls. So the toy is intended to encourage your cat to bat the balls and send them spinning around the tracks. Now, this toy received outstanding
customer reviews, people really seem to like it and it seems to have a pretty good reputation for longevity, sturdiness and performance. There aren't any parts that you're going to have to replace. It's just a really good simple toy. It has rubber pads on the bottom so that it isn't going to slip around on
the floor. And overall it really seems to do exactly what it's supposed to. Although a lot of cats in customer reviews seem to love this toy and again, it's a favorite on the market, I found that my cats didn't seem too interested in it. I did catch my cat whsc playing with it a couple of times, but it didn't
really seem to capture my cat's interest for a really long period of time. This toy costs $8 and 89 cents. Our next recommendation is the Cat Dancer. So the Cat Dancer involves a springy piece of wire with some roll up cardboard on either end of that wire. So you're going to have a little
cardboard handle and then a bundle of rolled cardboard at the end. Now the toy looks incredibly simple and it is incredibly simple but it has a very interesting way of moving that really resembles a an insect kind of flying around. And for a lot of cats, that movement is incredibly enticing.
So this product is again one of the most popular cat toys on the market. It's been tested by over 8 million cats and a lot of them seem to absolutely love this toy. Now my experience was a little bit different. I can't I think maybe my cats just don't really like toys much. I actually have had the cat dancer
for a while before I tried it out for this review. And over the course of the year or so that I've had the cat dancer, like cats, I've only played with it a few times when they did play with it, they seemed really excited and interested but those occasions were few and far between. So again, I think maybe
this is just a personality issue. The Cat Dancer is definitely a really popular toy. Even though my cats didn't seem terribly interested in the cat dancer, I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a really good one style cat toy with a great reputation. One of the cool things about the Cat
Dancer also is that it allows you to interact and play with your cat without doing a lot of moving around. So you can certainly run across the house with a Cat Dancer and get a lot of action out of it but you can also get some variation Interesting and enticing movement out of the Cat Dancer
with just a shift of the wrist. So it can be a good option for people who have limited mobility, or just can't or don't want to move a lot. So you could sit in a chair and move the Cat Dancer around. And it would still be a really interesting and entertaining experience for your cat as well as you Our next
recommendation doesn't need you or your cat to do anything to get it moving. It's the Hexbug Nano robotic cat toy. So this is a battery operated toy that kind of scatters across the floor all on its own looking a lot like a live cockroach or a small shrew or mouse running across your floor. Now in my experience, I
found that the toy does have a few limitations. One is that it certainly doesn't work on carpet. The second is that even though the toy is advertised as having this excellent sense of balance, I did find that it could just flip over onto its back or side and it wouldn't be able to write itself. At least
not quickly enough to keep your cat engaged in play. Again, my cats just didn't seem that interested in the Hexbug Nano. I was really hopeful for this toy, I thought that they would be interested in it, but apparently not. Even though the toy has a really cool design, and it moves in what I thought to be a very
enticing manner and has this cool fluffy tail. My cats just didn't really show that much interest in it. That said, I've read a lot of customer reviews from people saying that their cats absolutely loved it. So if your cat is one to get really excited about toys in general, I think that they're going to
absolutely love the hexbug nano, the toy cost $7 and 49 cents. So I mentioned earlier that cat toys can stimulate your cat mentally and physically helping to keep them healthy and stress free. So this toy capitalizes on that fact, by combining play and food it's a combination that makes sense considering that
your cat is is a carnivorous predator and would be hunting for their food if they lived in the wild. The Petsafe Slimcat interactive feeder is a great option for cats who eat too quickly and tend to regurgitate after they eat, or cats who are overweight and need that combination of play and food in
order to help them get their exercise. So this toy is a ball that your cat pass around, but it's also an interactive feeder. So it dispenses food as it rolls along the floor. You have two dispensing settings so you can rotate the ball in order to dispense food through the small holes or the larger holes. And
this is going to change the dynamic of play and also suit different types of kibble better than others. Now, there's an obvious concern here, which is that if you really want your cat to lose weight and get healthy, would be ideal to have them on a wet diet and this toy doesn't really allow for that. That's an
obvious concern. But you can also combine it with treats or just use it for occasional dry meals while also feeding your cat wet food. So I don't think that that rules it out as a healthy option. In my experience, I found that my cats caught on really quickly and figured out how this toy worked
and seemed to enjoy using it to dispense the food. Of course, I don't feed them a solely dry diet. So this wasn't the only way that they were getting their food. But overall, I think that they really seemed interested in the toy and seemed to enjoy it. The ball is made from BPA free plastic and is dishwasher safe,
so easy to maintain. So this interactive feeder toy costs $6 and 95 cents. All right, so that's it. We've covered all five of our top recommendations for the best interactive cat toys on the market.
